INTRODUCTION: continued transmission of Lassa fever has been recorded in 6 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ondo State in Southwest, Nigeria annually with high case fatality rates. Genomic analysis of the Lassa virus has indicated ongoing transmission from local rodents´ population to humans despite several public health interventions during the outbreak including risk communication on preventive practices against the disease. Community engagement critically influences intervention sustainability, yet varying levels of awareness, perception, and ownership persist across districts. This study assessed community awareness, perceptions, and ownership of eight major stunting reduction programs in Rwanda, and identified challenges affecting their success. METHODS: A qualitative assessment design was employed across ten randomly selected districts where stunting reduction programs had been implemented for 5–15 years.

BACKGROUND: Amputation is a life-changing experience involving the surgical removal of a body part. However, little is known about the experiences of persons who have undergone limb amputation in the Saki West Local Government Area (LGA), which prompted this study.

Very little is known about the long-term health risks associated with the high stress police officer occupation. We report here on a retrospective cohort of 2,376 ever-employed white male police officers employed between January 1950 and October 1979. Vital status was obtained for 96%, the officers accumulating a total of 39,462 person-years. Six-hundred sixty-one deaths were observed. Total mortality from all causes was comparable to that of the overall U.S. white male population (standardized mortality ratio [SMR] = 106). This study investigated the use of SARCOPTES-ELISA DOG KIT as a diagnostic tool in detecting anti-mite antibodies, establishing the prevalence of scabies in dogs and the associated risk factors of canine mange occurrence. A total of 384 dogs (149 males and 235 females) were randomly sampled from eight local government areas. The prevalence of canine sarcopticosis was found to be 67.45% (259/384) using the ELISA kit. In March 2024, the Department of Health in Western Australia investigated an outbreak of Salmonella linked to a food venue serving bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwiches). Outbreak cases were notified via laboratories, health services, local government, and cases referring sick co-exposed individuals.
