A 38-year-old woman presented with a widespread bullous eruption that recurred during menstruation. Skin biopsy suggested erythema multiforme. As she was receiving synthetic progesterones for dysmenorrhoea the diagnosis of an auto-immune progesterone dermatitis was considered. However, subsequent investigations confirmed the diagnosis to be a fixed drug eruption to mefenamic acid taken for dysmenorrhoea.

Out of 98 female referrals with acne vulgaris it was possible to define ovarian morphology by high resolution ultrasound imaging of the pelvis in 82 (84%). Sixty-eight (83%) were shown to have polycystic ovaries, compared with 19% in a control group without acne. The presence of polycystic ovaries in the acne patients did not correlate with acne severity, infertility, menstrual disturbance, hirsutes, or biochemical endocrinological abnormalities.

16 women with uterine septum, between 20 and 32 years old, have been operated by Tescher operation and the results are exposed. 5-6 months after the operations the control x-ray examination have been applied to thirteen cases. In 12 of them, we saw excellent physiologic cavities. In ne last one, there was an sufficient size cavity but it was not excellent. We suggest that the results of Tescher operation are better than those of others technics.

One hundred and eighty-one consecutive patients admitted for curettage because of irregular uterine bleeding were classified preoperatively as having postmenopausal bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, menorrhagia, or metrorrhagia. They were followed up at 3 and 9 months after curettage with regard to diagnosis and cure. The therapeutic effect of ovarian wedge resection (OWR) was evaluated in a study of 92 patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome who did not conceive after clomiphene treatment. The frequency of ovulation was significantly higher after OWR than before (0.02 less than P less than 0.05). Postoperatively, 58 of the patients (63%) attained pregnancy one or more times, either spontaneously or after induction of ovulation. The beneficial effect of OWR on menstrual irregularities was significant (P less than 0.001).

An environmental survey of a plant formulating oral contraceptives demonstrated considerable variation in possible synthetic estrogen exposure to the plant personnel. Clinical epidemiological studies showed evidence of increased absorption of estrogens in some employees at the plant. In view of the company's considerable efforts to suppress dust from work areas, new approaches to containment may be necessary with biologically active dusts--including the establishment of a dust standard.

Intermenstrual bleeding in young girls is frequently a symptom that disappears spontaneously, but in adults it is best regarded as a symptom of intrauterine pathology. In patients in the late reproductive phase of life it may be the first symptom of uterine carcinoma and should therefore be treated with the same respect as postmenopausal bleeding. Treatment usually presents lille problem in patients who are properly investigated (Table 1).

Obesity, oligomenorrhea, and hirsutism are frequently associated with high plasma androgen levels and/or low testosterone-binding globulin (TEBG) levels. Studied have been undertaken to determine the extent to which each of these clinical features may be related to this hormonal profile.
