The influence of microwaves, generated by navigation radars, on the animals' behavior, their antioxidant and reproductive systems were studied. It was found that the exposure to power of 1000 (microW/cm2)h exceeded the threshold of harmful action of electromagnetic radiation.

To study prognostic value of chemiluminescent (CL) test of duodenal ulcer treatment efficacy with microwave resonance therapy (MWRT), 39 duodenal ulcer patients were divided into two groups differing only by the size of ulcer defect. Chronic prostatitis and prostatodynia are troublesome disorders that are not responsive to any kind of treatment. Patients with treatment-resistant chronic nonbacterial prostatitis (n = 61) or prostatodynia (n = 17) for longer than 3 years underwent a single 1-hour session of transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) using the Prostatron. Microwave is used to treat temporal hearing loss caused by intravenous injection of the ethacrynic acid in guinea pigs. The recovery of hearing is much faster in the treated groups than in the control group. The article proposes possible mechanism of the effects against the ethacrynic acid induced deafness and assume that the result of this research can provide an experimental basis for treatment of some perceptive deafness due to ischemia of stria vascularis of the cochlea.

Microwave-induced hyperthermia was focused locally upon mammary adenocarcinoma implanted in C3H mice when the tumor reached 6 mm in diameter. In 54 treated mice, all tumors diminished in size after the first exposure (43 degrees, 45 min) and disappeared completely following the second treatment. No other effects from heat application were apparent. All the mice in the microwave-treated group survived the whole period of observation (4 months) without any evidence of tumor, while 18 nontreated controls died within 4 weeks after inoculation.
