Angled roots are seen in mandibular third molars, which have a high frequency of incomplete impaction. We examined the relationship between incomplete impaction and angled roots. We enrolled orthopantomographs to determine the prevalence of angled roots in 239 men and 222 women aged 21--35 years with bilateral mandibular third molars. A case of radiologically identified molar invasion into extensive arteriovenous shunts (AVSs) is described. CT and MRI revealed a large uterine mass, accompanied by multiple AVSs. Dynamic MRI and pelvic angiography demonstrated multiple trophoblastic cysts invading into the AVSs. Resected specimen confirmed the diagnosis of invasive mole. Dynamic MRI was very useful in determining the etiology of AVS.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate variables in third molar and arch dimensions among subjects with impacted and erupted mandibular third molars.
STUDY DESIGN: Standardized panoramic radiographs were taken for 134 subjects (60 males and 74 females with 213 third molars) with an average age of 19.8 years. For the impacted group, only those who had mesioangular inclination of the third molars were recorded. The radiographic features studied were angulation of tooth, level of eruption, development of root, mesiodistal crown width, retromolar space, and gonial angle.

OBJECTIVE: To determine if the clinical presentation of complete hydatidiform mole has changed in recent years compared with historic controls (1965-1975).
METHODS: Chart review of all 74 patients referred to the New England Trophoblastic Disease Center for the primary management of complete hydatidiform mole during 1988-1993 was performed and comparison made to historic controls (1965-1975).

Tenoxicam is a long-acting nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent that appears to have the ability to control pain of musculoskeletal origin. In this case, a clear pathway for eruption was provided for the mandibular left first permanent molar by reducing the distal surface of the primary molar. The occlusal surface was also surgically uncovered to remove any possibility of a mucosal barrier. It was thought that the loss of arch length was not too great a sacrifice if the tooth could be brought into occlusion.
