The distribution of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) immunostaining cells in the digestive tracts (hibernation and nonhibernation), the brain and other various tissues of Bufo bufo gargarizans was studied by peroxidase anti-peroxidase immunocytochemical method. In the brain, 5-HT immunostaining cells were localized in the raphen nuclear area of brain stem and in the ependyma cell area of the ventriclus tertius of diencephalon. Chemoradiation-associated injury may cause marked epithelial and stromal changes in gastric specimens. We characterized these histologic features in a retrospective series of cases. BACKGROUND: Familial dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) causes heart failure and may lead to heart transplantation. DCM is typically a monogenic disorder with autosomal dominant inheritance. Currently disease-causing variants have been reported in over 60 genes that encode proteins in sarcomeres, nuclear lamina, desmosomes, cytoskeleton, and mitochondria. OBJECTIVES: Familial partial lipodystrophy, Dunnigan variety (FPLD), is an autosomal dominant disorder due to missense mutations in the lamin A/C (LMNA) gene encoding nuclear lamina proteins.
