Since some metal-organic cages (MOCs) have been synthesized in past several years, the applications of MOCs such as drug delivery, molecular recognition, separation, catalysis, and gas storage, etc. have been witnessed with a significant increase. However, to the best of our knowledge, so far no one has used MOCs as chiral stationary phase to separate chiral compounds in CEC. The synthesis of highly substituted 1,3-dienes from the coupling of vinyl bromides with vinyl triflates is reported for the first time. The coupling is catalyzed by a combination of (5,5'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)NiBr2 and (1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane)PdCl2 in the presence of a zinc reductant. Succinimide derivatives are useful building blocks for the synthesis of natural products and drugs. We describe an efficient route to succinimide derivatives comprising Pd(xantphos)Cl2-catalyzed aminocarbonylation of alkynes with aromatic or aliphatic amines in the presence of p-TsOH. The utility of this route is demonstrated with the synthesis of a large number of succinimide compounds including an important photochromic molecule.

Metal-superoxo intermediates have been invoked as reactive species in C-H bond cleavage of substrates by oxygenase enzymes. In this work, we have shown the first structurally characterized end-on chromium(III)-superoxo complex, [Cr(III)(14-TMC)(O(2))(Cl)](+), which was synthesized by reacting [Cr(II)(14-TMC)(Cl)](+) with O(2). The Cr(III)-superoxo intermediate has shown reactivities in C-H cleavage of alkylaromatics via a H-atom abstraction mechanism.

The synthesis of alpha,alpha-disubstituted alpha-amino acids by means of a three component coupling is reported. The coupling occurs through umpolung addition of organometallic reagents to the nitrogen of alpha-iminoesters. The resulting enolate intermediates subsequently react with electrophiles (aldehydes, imines, alpha,beta-unsaturated nitro, alkyl halides, acyl cyanides) to form a quaternary center. Tethering of the electrophile and nucleophile components provides cyclic alpha,alpha-disubstituted alpha-amino acid derivatives.

Nickel salicylates complexes were synthesized with the rheologic phase reaction method. The composition of these complexes were confirmed by elemental analysis, TG and IR, the principal infrared absorption peaks were assigned for the region 4,000-400 cm-1. The IR spectra indicated that a hydroxyl group on Ni atom was occurred and so absorption peaks of hydroxyl group were shifted obviously to higher frequency in nickel monosalicylates.
