Palladium-catalyzed hydrostannation of substituted Z- and E-enynols is discussed and compared. The regioselectivity of the H-Sn bond addition was found to be controlled by the geometry of the double bond (Z- or syn-directing effect) rather than the nature of its substituents. Exclusively alpha-vinyl stannanes were obtained from Z-enynols having various substituents on the double bond regardless of their electronic, steric, or chelating natures.

Cocyclization of 2a,b with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate provides the phenanthrene- and naphthalenecarboxylic ester analogues, depending on the catalyst used.

This study investigates the synthesis, characterization, and cytotoxicity of dinuclear palladium(II) complexes with glycine (Pd1), alanine (Pd2), and methionine (Pd3) as ligands. The effects of the metal deposition and activation methods on metal particle size and distribution were investigated for carbon nanotube supported Pd catalysts. The Pd precursor was loaded by incipient wetness impregnation, ion adsorption, and deposition precipitation and was activated by thermal treatment under a nitrogen atmosphere or in the liquid phase by reduction by formaldehyde or sodium borohydride. The reaction of Re2(CO)8[mu-eta2-C(H)=C(H)Bu(n)](mu-H) with Ph3SnH at 68 degrees C yielded the new compound Re2(CO)8(mu-SnPh2)2 (10) which contains two SnPh2 ligands bridging two Re(CO)(4) groups, joined by an unusually long Re-Re bond.
