PURPOSE: To report a case of pigmentation in focal scleral nodule (FSN).
METHODS: This is a single case report.
RESULT: An asymptomatic 61-year-old woman was referred with small, partially pigmented raised lesion located at the superior margin of the optic nerve head. The lesion's clinical and multimodal imaging features were consistent for FSN including a dome-shaped elevation confined to the sclera with overlying choroidal thinning. However, the pigmentation within our lesion is a novel finding in FSN that has not been described before.
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, we report the first ca

BACKGROUND: Nail dyschromia occurs for various reasons and presents with different clinical appearances. Exogenous causes, such as occupational agents, trauma, and infection can cause discoloration in the nail.
AIMS: Reports of pigmentation on skin and nails caused by contact with plants are very rare. Here, we report the development of artichoke-related brown discoloration in the nails and fingers of a patient seasonally employed in cleaning and peeling artichokes and briefly discuss its possible mechanism.
PATIENTS: The clinical features and cause of brown pigmentation on the all nails in

Dermoscopy is a noninvasive technique for the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of pigmentary disorders in brown skin. It can be used for the diagnosis of various facial melanoses, which can avoid the need for biopsy in many cases. It can also help in early identification of the adverse effect of topical steroids and hydroquinone when they are used for the treatment of these disorders. Dermoscopy can also reliably differentiate vitiligo from other disorders of hypopigmentation. It can also help in assessing the stability of vitiligo before surgery.

Melanonychia describes a brown or black pigmentation of the nail plate caused by the presence of melanin. In this article, we review possible causes of melanonychia and discuss the main problems of management of patients with this condition. The goal in the management of melanonychia is early diagnosis of melanoma of the nail matrix and bed. Melanoma of the nail bed is also known as subungual melanoma. We discuss clinical, dermoscopic features that may help the clinician in selecting lesions that should have excisional biopsy and evaluate different options for the excision. Addressing melanony

Longitudinal pigmentation of the nail is very common. The differential diagnosis varies from subungual hematoma, to a fungal infection, to a melanocytic lesion (lentigo, nevus melanoma, etc.) to others. Often, dermatologists do not feel at ease with these pathologies and management is often not clear. In many cases, a biopsy is not helpful because an inadequate technique was chosen. The use of noninvasive techniques such as dermoscopy has been described to be useful for the preoperative evaluation and the management decision. Using these technique, one will be able to reduce the number of unne

A Japanese infant had bilateral hypopigmented macules in a whorled or marble-cakelike configuration on her trunk and extremities. Her irides were bluish gray and her hair was dark brown. She had photophobia and macrocephaly with developmental delay. Analysis of peripheral lymphocytes and dermal fibroblasts disclosed a normal chromosomal pattern. A new finding was that the eumelanin content of the hypopigmented epidermis was decreased. We suggest that at least a portion of patients with this disorder have a defect in eumelanogenesis in hypopigmented skin.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disease and has multiple clinical manifestations; when CKD reaches the end stage, at least one cutaneous manifestation appears due to some increased toxin levels or a constant proinflammatory state. Nonspecific manifestations include pruritus, xerosis, pigmentation disorders, acquired ichthyosis, purpuric spots, and nail disorders. Some specific manifestations are bullous dermatoses, acquired perforating dermatoses (APD), eruptive xanthoma, access site infections, calcifying disorders, and nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF). All these cutaneous ch…

Mitochondrial myopathies are inborn metabolism defect diseases manifested by symptoms reflecting failure of the final step in the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Clinical expression of these conditions can vary widely, but typically includes organ systems with a high energy demand, such as striated muscle, myocardium, and nervous and liver tissues. In contrast, cutaneous manifestations are rare and are non-specific, most commonly presenting as pigmentation disorders. In this case report, we present a case of Alpers syndrome accompanied by hyperpigmentation and atrophy in skin folds.

Albinism is not a single entity but represents a heterogenous group of inherited disorders of pigmentation. Despite a wide variety of manifestations, all forms of albinism are characterized by several ocular features, including: nystagmus, photophobia, reduced visual acuity and a lack of stereopsis. It is the intention of this review to describe and discuss the clinical implications of albinism with particular emphasis placed on these ocular features and their effects on visual performance. Various techniques that may be employed to aid the albino will also be described.

PURPOSE: To present a case of bilateral acute iris depigmentation after covid 19 infection.
CASE REPORT: A 55-year-old female presented with binocular pain and blurred vision a month after being diagnosed with severe acute respiratory syndrome - coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). She presented pigment dispersion in the anterior chamber and pigment depositions on the corneal endothelium. The patient was treated with dexamethasone and during follow-up visits, the pigment dispersion decreased and the symptoms ceased.
CONCLUSIONS: Covid-19 infection may be associated with rare ocular disorders such as
