We report a patient who developed corneal argyrosis secondary to occupational silver soldering. Clinically, the cornea was notable for a green-brown discoloration localized to Descemet's membrane by slit-lamp biomicroscopy. Silver particles were identified within the anterior three eighths of Descemet's membrane by light and electron microscopy and energy-dispersive x-ray microanalysis. To our knowledge, the association between corneal argyrosis and silver soldering has not been previously reported.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to analyze filtering blebs (FBs) after trabeculectomy with in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) and slit-lamp biomicroscopy.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: IVCM using the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph/Rostock Cornea Module and biomicroscopic examination were performed in 67 FBs in 55 patients 3 months to 30 years postoperatively (mean, 3.2 ± 2.1 y). PURPOSE: To establish an animal model of congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) using Slc4a11 knockout (KO) mice and evaluate the abnormalities in the cornea and kidney.
METHODS: The Slc4a11 KO mouse model was generated by gene deletion.
