The development of statistical and spatial analytical methods gave a tool for evaluating mortality and morbidity in small areas. GIS mapping helps in the assessment of health state of small areas, to investigate causal relationship and create plans of intervention. Improving adverse drug event (ADE) prediction is highly critical in pharmacovigilance research. We propose a novel information component guided pharmacological network model (IC-PNM) to predict drug-ADE signals. This new method combines the pharmacological network model and information component, a Bayes statistics method. A new acanthocepohalan species, Moniliformis saudi sp. n. is described from the desert hedgehog, Paraechinus aethiopicus (Ehrenberg), in central Saudi Arabia. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes of pulmonary tissue area density and their mechanisms in rats with hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH).
METHODS: 54 Wistar rats were divided into hypoxia 10 d (n = 12), 20 d (n = 12), 30 d (n = 12) groups and control group (n = 18). The rats in hypoxia groups were exposed to a simulated hypoxia environment at a height of 5 km above sea level to establish HPH models. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the third plane image of the three-dimensional sonography (3D US) for the quantitative analysis of the cerebellar vermis in normal and Dandy-Walker syndrome (DWS) fetuses.
METHODS: The cerebellar vermis was scanned with trans-abdominal 3D US in the second and third trimesters in 571 normal fetuses and 39 fetuses with Dandy-Walker syndrome. The surface area of the vermis in the mid-sagittal view was measured and calculated. The correlation between the vermian area and the pregnant week was analyzed.
