OBJECTIVES: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease characterised by combined upper and lower motor neuron degeneration. An early and accurate diagnosis is important for patient care and might facilitate the search for a more effective therapy. The development and application of electrospun glassy carbon nanofibers for ultra-thin layer chromatography (UTLC) are described. The carbon nanofiber stationary phase is created through the electrospinning and pyrolysis of SU-8 2100 photoresist. The report presents the results of investigations carried out in 63 patients (49 children and 14 adults) with thin glomerular basement membrane disease. We study the spreading characteristics of a reactive-wetting system of mercury (Hg) droplets on silver (Ag) films in room temperature. This is done using our recently developed method for reconstructing the dynamical three-dimensional shape of spreading droplets from two-dimensional microscope images [A. Be'er and Y. Lereah, J. With increasing number of intoxications with some preparations at the same time there is a lack of literature data about chemical-toxicological research of psychostimulator mixture. The aim of the study was to analyze the possibility of identification of four preparations in the mixture. The thin-layer chromatography method was used. The most acceptable solvent systems were determined: ethylacetate-methanol-conc. ammonia hydroxide (40:4:2:25) and dioxane-benzenum-conc. ammonia hydroxide-acetone (28:14:2:25).
