We report a case of primary irritant contact dermatitis caused by an organostannic insecticide, tributyl tin phthalate, which has been thought to be stable and safe. A factory worker has been in contact with raw tributyl tin phthalate on one leg. Soon after taking a hot-water bath, he developed severely painful erythema on this leg. Patch tests and chemical analysis revealed that hot water hydrolyzed tributyl tin phthalate and produced concentrated phthalic acid. Since phthalic acid, a weak acid, was then concentrated, an acute irritant reaction appeared in this patient.

The title compounds, [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2(H2O)2][Sn(CH3)3(CHO2)2] (1) and [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2]Cl·H2O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C9H29O2Sn3) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO2.

A nano-sized silver-coated tin (Sn@Ag) slurry was prepared by heterogeneous flocculation method by adjusting the pH value of solution and selecting different dispersants. The slurry improved the oxidation resistance of tin and its dispersibility in silver matrix. The sintering strength of nanometre Sn@Ag slurry increases with the increase of Sn content. In the present work, we report a solution-based strategy to produce crystallographically textured SnSe bulk nanomaterials and printed layers with optimized thermoelectric performance in the direction normal to the substrate. This study reports on the electrochemical alloying-dealloying properties of Mg₂Sn intermetallic compounds. 119Sn Mössbauer spectra of β-Sn powder, thermally alloyed cubic-Mg₂Sn, and an intermediate MgSn nominal composition are used as references. The discharge of a Mg/micro-Sn half-cell led to significant changes in the spectra line shape, which is explained by a multiphase mechanism involving the coexistence of c-Mg₂Sn, distorted Mg2−δSn, and Mg-doped β-Sn. Tin oxide nanostructures were fabricated using a water bath technique. The structures were modified with dye-labeled DNAs for a molecular sensor. Sensing mechanism of the sensor was based on a photoelectric conversion effect. Photoluminescence intensities from the tin oxide nanostructures reached to 16 times larger than that from SnO2:F films. On a day in November, the body of a 31-year-old man was found near a swimming lake with two open and partly emptied fish tins lying next to him. Further investigations showed that the man had been allergic to fish protein and suffered from severe depression and drug psychosis. Already some days before the suicide, he had repeatedly asked for fish to kill himself. Although the results of the chemical and toxicological examinations were negative, the autopsy findings and histological tests suggest that death was caused by an anaphylactic reaction.

A convenient method for the preparation of fluorous aryl stannanes was developed as a means of expanding the general utility of the fluorous labeling strategy (FLS). Following the synthesis of a novel fluorous distannane, a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction was used to prepare the target compounds from aryl halides.
