BACKGROUND: Lung transplantation can be lifesaving for patients with end-stage interstitial lung disease (ILD) related to connective tissue disease (CTD). The number of organ donors in Sweden is not enough to cover the need of tissues for transplant purposes. Other sources have to be defined. Young and healthy potential donors can be identified within DFM. Without precise written agreements and a well-educated and trained organization those donations will not be realized. OBJECTIVE: To describe a successful autologous ovarian tissue re-transplantation in a sterile leukemia survivor after evaluation for minimal residual disease and provide a review of the current literature.

Patients suffering from head and neck cancer often require temporary tracheostomy during therapy. The tracheostomy can usually be closed when postoperative swelling decreases and swallowing ability recovers.
