The Study of Alanine Transaminase Activity in Tissues of Silkworm (Bombyx mori) via Direct Analysis in Real-Time (DART) Mass Spectrometry.

Alanine transaminase (ALT) is an important amino acid-metabolizing enzyme in silkworm Bombyx mori L., and is mainly involved in transferring glutamate to alanine (serving as an essential precursor in silk protein synthesis) through transamination. Therefore, it is generally believed that silk protein synthesis in the silk gland and the cocoon quantity increase with the increase in ALT activity to a certain extent. Here, a novel analytical method was developed to determine the ALT activity in several key tissues of Bombyx mori L. including the posterior silk gland, midgut, fat body, middle silk

The gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase to platelet ratio predicts liver inflammation in chronic hepatitis B with normal or mildly elevated alanine transaminase.

BACKGROUND: The gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) to platelet ratio (GPR) was proposed as a novel index for predicting liver inflammation in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. We aimed to investigate GPR for predicting significant liver inflammation in CHB patients with normal (≤1×upper limit of normal, ULN) or mildly elevated (≤2×ULN) alanine transaminase (ALT). METHODS AND METHODS: 431 treatment-naïve CHB patients with normal or mildly elevated ALT who underwent liver biopsy were enrolled. Comparision of GPR and other parameters for significant liver inflammation (G≥3). RESULTS: For pat

Diagnosis-Day Prothrombin Time and Transaminase as Exploratory Risk-Stratification Indicators for Severe Neonatal Outcomes in Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy.

OBJECTIVES: Acute fatty liver of pregnancy (AFLP) is a life-threatening condition associated with high neonatal morbidity. This study aimed to develop a minimal, clinically feasible prediction model using diagnosis-day laboratory indicators to stratify the risk of severe adverse neonatal outcomes (SANO). METHODS: In this single-center retrospective cohort (2004-2021), 18 pregnancies with AFLP confirmed by Swansea criteria were analyzed. Firth penalized logistic regression assessed associations between the first laboratory values on the diagnosis day and SANO (intrauterine death/severe asphyxi

ω-transaminase-catalyzed synthesis of (R)-2-(1-aminoethyl)-4-fluorophenol, a chiral intermediate of novel anti-tumor drugs.

The chiral amine (R)-2-(1-aminoethyl)-4-fluorophenol has attracted increasing attentions in recent years in the field of pharmaceuticals because of its important use as a building block in the synthesis of novel anti-tumor drugs targeting tropomyosin receptor kinases. In the present study, a ω-transaminase (ωTA) library consisting of 21 (R)-enantioselective enzymes was constructed and screened for the asymmetric biosynthesis of (R)-2-(1-aminoethyl)-4-fluorophenol from its prochiral ketone. Using (R)-α-methylbenzylamine, D-alanine, or isopropylamine as amino donor, 18 ωTAs were identified with

[The prevalence of hepatitis C antibodies among volunteer blood donors with elevated blood transaminase and antibodies to the B virus core antigen].

The use of non-specific markers before 1989 (increased serum transaminase values and antibodies to hepatitis B core antigen) as a screening method for blood donors in an attempt to decrease the incidence of post-transfusional non-A non-B hepatitis (currently hepatitis C virus) was a matter of controversy. To determine the impact of the use of these markers on the detection of blood donors infected with hepatitis C virus, a prospective study was undertaken in Málaga (1988-1989) with 5,003 volunteer donors with two objectives: a) to know the prevalence of these non-specific markers (anti-HBc and

In vivo action of enzyme-activated irreversible inhibitors of glutamic acid decarboxylase and gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase in retina vs. brain.

The effects of low s.c. doses of gamma-acetylenic gamma-aminobutyric acid (GAG) on glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) and gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase (GABA-T) activities, as well as of gamma-vinyl GABA (GVG) and gabaculine on GABA-T activities, were examined using preparations from retina and several other regions of rat central nervous system (CNS). GAG, in doses of 5 to 50 mg/kg, inactivated retinal GAD to a significantly greater degree than GAD from any other CNS region studied. Retinal GABA-T activities were also differentially inactivated by 1 to 50 mg/kg of GAG, 50 mg/kg of GVG,

Association Between Uric Acid to HDL-C Ratio and Liver Transaminase Abnormalities: Insights from a Large-Scale General Population Study.

Background and Objectives: The uric acid to HDL-cholesterol ratio (UHR) has recently emerged as a promising biomarker reflecting systemic inflammation and metabolic disturbances. Elevated liver transaminases are clinical indicators of hepatic injury and underlying metabolic dysfunction. Many Middle Eastern countries face constrained clinical and laboratory resources, where access to comprehensive diagnostic tools may be limited. In such settings, identifying simple and easily accessible markers could offer significant practical value in detecting and monitoring health disorders. This study inv…
