We reported a 61-year-old man presented with 10-month progressing left sciatic neuropathy and 10-day right facial neuropathy. Serum amphiphysin-IgG was positive. 18F-FDG PET/CT of the whole body showed no signs of malignancy. Treatment with plasma exchange and oral prednisone relieved the symptoms. The retinoblastoma is one of the most common tumors of the eye diagnosed in childhood. The treatment for patients with retinoblastoma includes surgical removal of the lesion along with adjunctive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We report a case of primary leptomenigeal lymphoma (PLML) in an 11-year-old boy presenting with headache, vomiting, and diplopia. The patient was treated on an advanced non-Hodgkin lymphoma protocol with systemic/intrathecal chemotherapy without cranial radiotherapy. He remains in complete remission 33 months after treatment.

CONCLUSIONS: Advanced age, long operation time and large specimen volume were significant risk factors for transient facial palsy after conservative parotidectomy. Revision operation was the only risk factor for development of a permanent palsy. Risk factors for Frey's syndrome were not found. Ewing's sarcoma is rarely located at the base of the skull. We report a case of ethmoid Ewing's sarcoma. Diagnosis was established on microscopic examination. A complete surgical resection was performed, followed by cranial base reconstruction. During the postoperative period, a combined course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy was performed. We also present a review of the literature.

Molecular genetic investigation of a female infant with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) showed loss of IGF2 imprinting but no evidence of uniparental disomy. In addition, a deletion of chromosome 18q22.1 was identified in this infant without clinical features of 18q-syndrome (microcephaly, short stature, hypotonia). The association of a chromosome 18 deletion and BWS may be coincidental or may indicate the location of a trans activating regulator element for maintenance of IGF2 imprinting.

BACKGROUND: The facial artery myomucosal (FAMM) island flap is a cheek flap, pedicled on the facial artery and suitable for small to medium-sized reconstructions of the oral cavity and neighboring areas. A novel transposition of the flap to the hypopharynx after laryngectomy is presented in this report.
METHODS: A 58-year-old man, previously irradiated, was laryngopharyngectomized because of a new supraglottic carcinoma. An unexpected need for a flap was solved by tunneling a FAMM island flap lateral to the mandible. The reach and size of the flap were sufficient to close the defect.
