A 38-year-old man presented with an acute onset of pain and swelling of the right testis. On examination, he was tender in the right iliac fossa (RIF) with a grossly enlarged and tender right testis. Ultrasonography and contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen and pelvis revealed right epididymo-orchitis, a bulky and inflamed right spermatic cord and a well- defined, thick-walled collection in the RIF.

The application of an intrauterine contraceptive device can perforate the uterus and migrate to adjacent organs such as the bladder or small bowel. The main symptoms are painful insertion of the intrauterine contraceptive device and missing IUD strings. The diagnosis of perforation and transuterine migration of the IUD is made on the basis of an ultrasound examination and an abdominal X-ray. The proper management is such case is immediate removal of the IUD. The aim of this paper was to present a case of a 34-year-old woman with a copper IUD found during a caesarean section.

Conflicting reports are found in the literature concerning whether to remove an incidentally discovered Meckel's diverticulum (MD). Between 1.1.1974 and 31.12.2000, at a single center, the perioperative data associated with appendectomy (AE) were recorded consecutively and analyzed retrospectively. Mediastinal metastasis of ovarian tumors are not rare as autopsy findings. Ovarian carcinomas usually spread by transcaelomic, lymphatic or haematogenous dissemination to peritoneum, pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, lung and pleura. A case of mediastinal metastasis of ovarian carcinoma is reported. A retrosternal mass was identified by CT scan and resected by VTC surgery.

A quality audit was performed of the case records of 1313 children admitted with acute abdominal pain over a three year period under the care of paediatric surgeons at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Perth.
