Determination of ETN101, a novel anti-hepatic cancer agent and its two metabolites in rat biological matrices using LC-MS/MS for ADME characterization.

ETN101 is a new therapeutic candidate with anti-hepatocellular carcinoma activity. In the present study, three complementary liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods using protein precipitation and matrix-matched calibration were developed for quantifying ETN101 and its metabolites M1 and M2 in rat plasma, tissue homogenates, urine, and feces. The methods were validated with reference to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) M10 guidance. A simultaneous assay was used for plasma, urine, and feces, and two LC-MS/MS sys

Is objectively measured exposure to built and natural environment associated with population-level cardiovascular disease mortality in Great Britain?

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) causes one-third of global mortality, with modifiable risk factors such as unhealthy diet, sedentary behaviour, tobacco/alcohol use contributing to 80 % of CVD deaths. The built environment (BE) can influence CVD risk indirectly by shaping health behaviours and directly through environmental exposures like air pollution. While research has established connections between isolated environmental features and CVD, this study addresses significant research gaps in understanding how multiple BE characteristics influence CVD mortality across socioeconomic con

A comparison of methods for analysing compositional data with fixed and variable totals: a simulation study using the examples of time-use and dietary data.

BACKGROUND: Compositional data comprise the parts of a 'whole' (or 'total'), which sum to that 'whole'. The 'whole' may vary between units of analyses, or it may be fixed (constant). For example, total energy intake (a variable total) is the sum of intake from all foods or macronutrients. Total time in a day (a fixed total) is the sum of time spent engaging in various activities. There exist different approaches to analysing compositional data, such as the isocaloric or isotemporal model, ratio variables, and compositional data analysis (CoDA). Although the performance of the different approac

Exploring the non-targeted metabolomic landscape in endurance-trained runners following 10 weeks of different dietary patterns and concomitant training.

INTRODUCTION: Established guidelines recommend carbohydrate-rich diets to optimize performance in endurance sports. However, alternative dietary strategies, such as the low-arbohydrate and high-fat (LCHF) diet, have gained increasing attention due to their potential to influence metabolic flexibility and endurance performance outcomes. In this study, we aim to investigate the combined effects of a LCHF diet, along with low glycemic index (LOW-GI) and high glycemic index (HIGH-GI) diets, in conjunction with regular endurance exercise, on the metabolomic profiles of recreational runners. The cla

Microplastic-Free Microcapsules to Encapsulate Health-Promoting Limonene Oil.

Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry has long included many appealing essential oils in products to meet consumers' needs. Among all, the demand for limonene (LM) has recently surged due to its broad-spectrum health benefits, with applications in cosmetic, detergent, and food products. However, LM is extremely volatile, hence has often been encapsulated for a longer shelf-life. To date, mostly non-biodegradable synthetic polymers have been exploited to fabricate the microcapsule shells, and the resulting microcapsules contribute to the accumulation of microplastic in the environment. So
