A Framework for Deep Learning Emulation of Numerical Models With a Case Study in Satellite Remote Sensing.

Numerical models based on physics represent the state of the art in Earth system modeling and comprise our best tools for generating insights and predictions. Despite rapid growth in computational power, the perceived need for higher model resolutions overwhelms the latest generation computers, reducing the ability of modelers to generate simulations for understanding parameter sensitivities and characterizing variability and uncertainty. Thus, surrogate models are often developed to capture the essential attributes of the full-blown numerical models. Recent successes of machine learning metho

Advances in biomaterial-based cardiac organoids.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the important causes of death worldwide. The incidence and mortality rates are increasing annually with the intensification of social aging. The efficacy of drug therapy is limited in individuals suffering from severe heart failure due to the inability of myocardial cells to undergo regeneration and the challenging nature of cardiac tissue repair following injury. Consequently, surgical transplantation stands as the most efficient approach for treatment. Nevertheless, the shortage of donors and the considerable number of heart failure patients worldwide,

Substance use prevention during adolescence: Study protocol for a large-scale cluster randomized trial of Botvin High School LifeSkills Training.

BACKGROUND: Concerns about the rise in adolescent vaping and cannabis use suggest the need for effective substance use prevention programs. Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) has a strong evidence base at the middle school level for preventing or reducing tobacco use and related problems. A high school (grades 9-10) version of the LST program was also developed and shows promising initial evidence for reducing tobacco use in a single pilot study. However, the high school version of LST has not been sufficiently tested in an experimental trial, despite being widely implemented in high schools acr

Care bundles for women during pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum: a scoping review protocol.

OBJECTIVE: This scoping review will identify the existence and type of care bundles developed, evaluated, or used by health care professionals in providing maternity care to women during pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum. INTRODUCTION: Care bundles consist of at least 3 to 5 evidence-based health care interventions that are implemented together in 1 clinical episode, consistently. Care bundle use is predicated on the notion that better clinical outcomes can be achieved when the interventions, often existing as part of standard care, are used collectively rather than in isolation.
