DeepThermoMix: a local composition graph neural network model for multicomponent activity coefficients.

Local composition theory postulates that the immediate molecular environment of a component differs from the bulk mixture composition. Classical local composition models describe this by using fixed algebraic expressions in the form of Boltzmann-like distributions which in turn results in explicit pairwise enumeration of components in multicomponent mixtures. Recent hard-constrained neural networks relax this functional form but remain tied to pairwise enumeration through geometric projection. Here, we propose DeepThermoMix, a local-composition-based graph neural network that predicts multicom

Geometric Deep Learning-Based Drug Design Models for Small-Molecule Drug Discovery.

Deep neural network (DNN)-based in silico models show great promise in predicting the properties and bioactivities of novel compounds, including small molecules. Among traditional approaches, structure-based drug design (SBDD) remains a fundamental approach for drug discovery using molecular docking, scoring functions, and molecular dynamics simulations. However, these approaches are often constrained by limited flexibility, resolution, and generalizability. Geometric deep learning (GDL) offers a transformative alternative by enabling models to learn directly from non-Euclidean molecular repre

Design of an optimal planning framework for cryosurgical treatment of brain tumor using CNN segmentation of MRI images.

This study presents an integrated methodology for pre-operative cryosurgical planning of irregularly shaped brain tumors using two-dimensional MRI data. Tumor regions were first segmented from MRI slices using a 2D U-Net architecture trained on annotated datasets, enabling accurate geometric reconstruction of the affected tissue. The segmented masks were then employed to determine cryoprobe placement using spatial probe-placement strategies, specifically K-Medoids clustering, Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), and the Bubble Packing Algorithm (BPA), each of which predicted both the optimal number

Automatic Segmentation of Placenta From MR Images Using a Novel BiGC U-Net.

Accurate segmentation of the placenta in Magnetic Resonance (MR) images is required for quantitative techniques such as texture and shape analysis, which have been proposed to improve placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) diagnostic rates. However, it is challenging due to the low contrast, image noise, blurred boundaries, and manual annotation variability. Hence, we proposed an enhanced U-Net architecture named BiGC U-Net, to automatically segment placental MR images. This deep learning (DL) structure incorporates a bidirectional gated convolutional module (BiGC) to capture complementary spatial de

Automated Detection of Normal, Atrial, and Ventricular Premature Beats from Single-Lead ECG Using Convolutional Neural Networks.

Accurate detection of premature atrial contractions (PACs) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) in single-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) is crucial for early identification of patients at risk for atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, and other adverse outcomes. In this work, we present a fully convolutional one-dimensional U-Net that reframes beat classification as a segmentation task and directly detects normal beats, PACs, and PVCs from raw ECG signals. The architecture employs a ConvNeXt V2 encoder with simple decoder blocks and does not rely on explicit R-peak detection, handcraft

A hybrid deep learning and residual connection-based architecture for intrusion detection in autonomous vehicles.

The emergence of Autonomous and Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) has transformed the automotive landscape drastically over the past few years by offering enhanced features in the vehicles for drivers' safety and convenience. These developments have introduced various features in AVs i.e., lane-keeping, cruise control, etc. These features are mainly powered by the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) that communicate using the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus protocol. The components in the AVs communicate with each other by sending and receiving messages via the CAN bus. However, despite incre

Any-step dynamics model improves future predictions for offline reinforcement learning via hierarchical roll-out.

Offline reinforcement learning constrains policy optimization within a given dataset, avoiding the high costs and unpredictable risks associated with online sampling in the real world. Model-based approaches provide a promising direction for offline reinforcement learning, as extensive policy explorations and evaluations can happen within the data-driven dynamics model, transcending the limitations imposed by the dataset boundaries. However, accurately predicting long-horizon sequential steps in the learned dynamics model remains a significant challenge. Model roll-out in previous methods reli

Dynamic graph convolution with comprehensive pruning and GNN classification for precise lymph node metastasis detection.

Early and accurate detection of lymph node metastases is crucial for improving breast cancer patient outcomes. However, current clinical practices, including CT, PET imaging, and microscopic examination, are time-consuming and prone to errors due to low tissue contrast, varying lymph node sizes, and complex workflows. To address the limitations of existing approaches in lymph node segmentation, feature embedding, and classification, this study proposes a novel framework Graph-Pruned Lymph Node Detection Framework (GPLN-DF) that integrates a Dynamic Graph Convolution (DGC) autoencoder with Node

CLID: A contrastive learning approach for multi-class classification of breast cancer histopathological images with imbalanced distribution.

Globally, breast cancer is recognized as the leading form of malignant tumor in women, significantly impacting public health on an international scale. However, current breast cancer classification methods often overlook the imbalanced data distribution within breast cancer datasets. This leads to models being biased toward majority-class samples during classification, while underperforming on minority-class samples, thereby reducing overall classification accuracy. Moreover, multi-classification approaches can provide physicians with richer diagnostic information and better support the develo

The use of machine learning models for subdural hematoma detection: a single-arm meta-analysis.

Manual evaluation of non-contrast CT scans (NCTS) for detecting subdural hematoma (SDH) is time consuming, potentially inaccurate, and subjective to the expert analyzing them. In recent years, two deep learning (DL) algorithms have been popularly studied in this respect, namely convolutional neural networks (CNN) and U-Net architectures, the latter being a specialized type of CNN. We performed the first meta-analysis comparing various DL models for SDH detection. MEDLINE, Cochrane, Scopus, and Embase databases were searched from inception through December 2025.
