OBJECTIVE: To describe the technique and outcomes of supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in the Galdako-modified Valdivia position.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Prospective data were collected from 303 patients undergoing PCNL in the Galdako-modified Valdivia position at our institution between 2007 and 2015. We report our technique with outcomes of operative times, stone-free rate (SFR), and complications.

Metastatic carcinoma of the prostate is increasing in incidence and commonly affects the proximal femur, but fracture risk is difficult to predict. Prophylactic fixation may avert the technical problems and reduce post-operative complications associated with acute pathological fracture treatment. We have attempted to further define the hemodynamic properties of the arterialized in-situ saphenous vein. The natural taper of the vein and the presence of arteriovenous fistulas are two unique factors associated with this conduit. Utilizing intra-operative electromagnetic flowmeter (EF) measurements and post-operative duplex ultrasound scanning (DUS), we have studied the natural history of these conduits from the time of their arterialization.
