Bladder Stone Formation due to Intravesical Migration of the Intrauterine Device: A Report of 2 Cases.

INTRODUCTION: Approximately 5% of bladder stones occur in women and are usually associated with foreign bodies or urinary stasis. Spontaneous migration of the intrauterine device (IUD) into the bladder is a rare complication. In this report, we present 2 cases of migrated IUD who had undergone surgery at our clinic due to bladder stones. CASE PRESENTATIONS: We detected migrated IUDs into the bladder in 2 female patients, aged 37 and 56 years, who presented with lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary tract infection. In the first case, endoscopic cystolithotripsy was performed, and the IUD w

Incidental bladder lipoma: a case report and review of the literature.

Conventional lipoma is the most common benign mesenchymal neoplasm in adults. However, bladder lipoma is a rare tumor. We report an incidental 0.5-cm, mucosal, bladder lipoma in a 75-year-old man, successfully treated with endoscopic excision. The tumor was found during the extension study of a high-grade urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis. A review of the published cases, including the present report, yielded a total of 16. Conclusions on this review are presented. The case is being reported because its rarity and to highlight the importance of complete workup to clarify associated diso

Refractory urinary fistula with infundibular stenosis after partial nephrectomy.

A 71-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (cT1aN0M0) underwent a laparoscopic left partial nephrectomy. Because the bleeding could not be controlled, conversion to laparotomy was instigated. A ureteral stent was placed on confirmation of postoperative urine leakage from the drain, but the volume of drainage did not decrease. The findings of retrograde pyelography and computed tomography showed a urinary fistula resulting from isolated calyces caused by infundibular stenosis, for which transurethral dilatation for the stenosis was carried out. However, owing to the

[Intravesical therapy of non-muscle invasive bladder tumors].

Intravesical therapy of non-muscle invasive bladder tumors has a long tradition. With regard to low grade tumors prevention of tumor recurrence remains the main endpoint, whereas in high grade tumors prevention of tumor progression is the main aim of intravesical treatment. The following article critically discusses these aspects of non-muscle invasive bladder tumors.
