Nurse-led intervention in the management of patients with cardiovascular diseases: a brief literature review.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one among the major causes of mortality in patients all around the globe. It has been reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) that approximately 80% of cardiovascular diseases could be prevented through lifestyle modifications. Management of CAD involves the prevention and control of cardiovascular risk factors, invasive and non-invasive treatments including coronary revascularizations, adherence to proper medications and regular outpatient follow-ups. Nurse-led clinics were intended to mainly provide supportive, educational, preventive measures and psy

Influence of night shift work on psychologic state and cardiovascular and neuroendocrine responses in healthy nurses.

Night shift work has often been associated with increasing degree and frequency of various psychologic complaints. The study examined whether psychologic states after night work are related to adaptive alterations of the cardiovascular and neuroendocrine systems. We studied 18 healthy nurses (age 29+/-2 years) engaged in a modified rapid shift rotation system (day work, 8:15-17:15; evening work, 16:00-22:00; night work, 21:30-8:30). Blood pressure, heart rate, RR interval variability (L/H and HF power spectrum for sympathetic and vagal activities), and physical activity were measured using a m

The Effect of Nurse-Led Intervention on Limiting Health Costs of Cardiovascular Diseases in Chinese Adults.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), as the leading cause of mortality worldwide, impose substantial health-related costs. Lifestyle modification through education and counseling is a key strategy in CVD management. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a nurse-led intervention on CVDs-related health costs and lifestyle habits among Chinese adults with CVDs. A quasi-experimental study was conducted among adults with CVDs assigned to either an intervention or control group. The intervention consisted of bi-monthly sessions over a six-month period, conducted in a hospital setting by trained regi

[Risk management in the operating room in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery; from the nursing point of view].

The primary risk management, on the side of a nurse, in the operating room includes prevention of misidentificatin of both the patient and the site of operation. Leaving of a foreign body in the patient, falling of the patient from the operating table, incidence of deep venous thrombosis and mismatch of blood transfusion should also be prevented with utmost care. The long operating time in cardiovascular surgery and the lateral position of the patient on the operating table in chest or esophageal surgery require additional risk management. Risks of pressure sore as well as nervous injury can b

Relationship between nurses' assessments of perfusion and toe temperature in pediatric patients with cardiovascular disease.

This descriptive study reports on 17 children who had undergone open-heart surgery. The children were assessed for 6 hours after surgery and once at 18 hours after operation to determine relationship between two scales assessing peripheral perfusion and the temperature of the great toe. There were 119 individual assessments. The scales used to assess the quality of peripheral pulses, extremity warmth, and capillary refill were (1) those representative of assessment scales used in common nursing practice and (2) more specific scales that attempt to "quantify" the qualitative assessment of perip

Patient and public involvement in the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease: a statement of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions of the ESC and the ESC Patient Forum.

Patient and public involvement (PPI) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD), at multiple levels. The partnership with patients and the public, those who are directly affected by CVD, is central to delivering personalized care, and may contribute to decreasing the burden of CVD and reducing health inequalities. This statement describes the concept of PPI and highlights the role of PPI across different settings including: clinical practice, research, regulatory processes, and policy and clinical guideline development. Recognition of the va

Exploring the renal-cardiovascular axis regulation mechanism and nursing considerations for cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease comorbidities based on the 2013-2014 NHANES database.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) often co-occur. The incidence of cardiovascular events in CKD patients is much higher than that in general population, and CVD, in turn, accelerates renal function deterioration, forming a vicious cycle. With the kidneys regulating cardiovascular function through water and salt balance, blood pressure, and other factors, cardiovascular system abnormalities also have a reciprocal effect on the kidneys. However, the regulation mechanism of renal-cardiovascular axis in comorbid conditions has not yet been fully elucidated. The data wer

Transferability of nurse-led interventions for cardiovascular health across diverse nursing roles in primary and community settings: Practice implications and solutions from a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Although nurse-led interventions are increasingly recognised as effective in managing cardiovascular risk factors, a comprehensive synthesis is needed to support their widespread implementation across healthcare systems. OBJECTIVE: This scoping review aimed to synthesise evidence to answer key questions: 1) Why do some nurse-led care models in primary and community settings succeed while others do not? 2) Which specific components of nurse-led interventions impact clinical outcomes? 3) What concerns exist about transferring these interventions to real-world settings, and what are

Hysterectomy With and Without Oophorectomy, Tubal Ligation, and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in the Nurses' Health Study II.

Background: Hysterectomy, oophorectomy, and tubal ligation are common surgical procedures. The literature regarding cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk after these surgeries has focused on oophorectomy with limited research on hysterectomy or tubal ligation. Materials and Methods: Participants in the Nurses' Health Study II (n = 116,429) were followed from 1989 to 2017. Self-reported gynecologic surgery was categorized as follows: no surgery, hysterectomy alone, hysterectomy with unilateral oophorectomy, and hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy. We separately investigated tubal ligation alon

Level of function mobility scale for nurse-driven early mobilisation in people with acute cardiovascular disease.

BACKGROUND: There are currently no validated tools that are reliable and easy to use for nurses to assess mobility in people with acute cardiovascular disease in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU). METHODS: A multidisciplinary team at an academic tertiary care centre developed the Level of Function (LOF) Mobility Scale for use in a nurse-driven early progressive mobilisation in the CICU. To determine inter-rater reliability, the prehospital and admission LOF were assessed independently by two CICU nurses. Pairwise comparisons between raters were evaluated using Cohen's kappa statis
