One hundred and one patients with nonvisualized gallbladder at double dose oral cholecystography were examined with ultrasonography. In 41 of 44 operated patients, ultrasonography suggested gallbladder disease. Operation in all of these cases confirmed the diagnosis. The value of infusion cholecystography 99mTc HIDA cholescintigraphy and ultrasonography was compared in 51 patients presenting with a clinical diagnosis of acute cholecystitis. Of the 35 patients with proven gallbladder disease, the presence of gallstones was correctly predicted in 31 (88 per cent) by infusion cholecystography, 32 (90 per cent) by 99mTc HIDA cholescintigraphy and 27 (77 per cent) by ultrasonography. There were no false positive investigations. Infusion cholecystography may be of particular interest to surgeons with no ready access to isotope scanning techniques.

To evaluate the reliability of intravenous cholecystography in the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, 186 consecutive patients with a clinical suspicion of acute cholecystitis were investigated. A prospective study was designed to assess the accuracy of gray scale ultrasonography in the evaluation of cholelithiasis. A series of 111 patients with nonvisualization on first-day oral cholecystography underwent ultrasonic cholecystography, and the results were compared with subsequent second-day visualitzation or surgical findings. AIM: In this study, we describe our experience in treating subacute thyroiditis patients with 2 OCAs (sodium ipodate and sodium iopanoate).

Real-time ultrasonography is more accurate and technically more efficient than gray scale ultrasonography in establishing the diagnosis of cholecystolithiasis.
