CT demonstration of ascending colon varices.

The radiographic appearance of intestinal edema, including colonic edema, has been well described in the literature. Severe wall circumferential thickening can occur within the colon in a number of conditions. This includes edema secondary to colitis, allergy, ischemia, and infiltrative neoplastic processes. Edema may be secondary to low protein levels, as from protein losing enteropathy, nephrotic syndrome, and hepatic cirrhosis. The following case, in which there was severe ascending colonic wall thickening due to edema, is unusual in two respects: it had well-developed demonstrated "protect

Isolated Ascending Colon Gangrene With Persistent Ascending Mesocolon: A Case Report.

Persistent mesocolon is a rare embryological anomaly that occurs when the primitive dorsal mesocolon fails to fuse with the posterior lateral parietal peritoneum allowing for volvulus of the cecum and colon. In malrotation of the gut, the normal rotation of the embryonic gut is arrested or disturbed during in-utero development. To our knowledge, this is the first case of isolated colon gangrene with persistent ascending mesocolon to be reported, although earlier studies have documented cases of persistent mesocolon of both ascending and descending mesocolon. This case had signs of acute intest

[A Case of Schwannoma in the Ascending Colon].

A 69-year-old man who was diagnosed with a submucosal tumor in the ascending colon by colonoscopy in X-7 year was presented. The endoscopic biopsy showed normal mucosa, and he had been followed up. During follow-up, computed tomography and colonoscopy performed in X year showed an enlargement of the tumor. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography showed intense FDG uptake. Malignant tumor was suspected, and laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy was performed. The histopathological diagnosis showed spindle-shaped tumor cells proliferating in a fascicular manner. Immunohistochemical

[Diverticulitis of the cecum and ascending colon].

Right colon diverticulitis, representing 1-3.6% of cases of diverticular disease is an uncommon cause of right lower quadrant pain. Its presentation is difficult to distinguish from acute appendicitis. Patients are between 35 and 50 years old, have a history of 2-3 days of abdominal pain and few gastrointestinal symptoms. The diagnosis is best confirmed by computed tomography and colonoscopy. Conservative treatment is justified in uncomplicated disease, whereas perforations, abcesses and inflammatory tumors require resection. We describe the cases of six patients treated at our institution fro
