PURPOSE: Interstitial cystitis can be classified into Hunner's ulcer and nonulcer disease, which are easily distinguished by cystoscopic examination. Although therapeutic options may differ between these 2 groups, the diagnosis of interstitial cystitis is currently established by many clinicians in the absence of cystoscopy. We determined whether clinical parameters alone without cystoscopic evaluation could reliably distinguish the patient with Hunner's ulcer vs nonHunner's ulcer disease.

To investigate the hypothesis that cystoscopy using a 5-mm suction irrigator and video laparoscope is safe and useful during total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH), a retrospective analysis of patients undergoing total or radical laparoscopic hysterectomy over a 10-year period was conducted. OBJECTIVES: The extent of the required preoperative workup of patients who are candidates for radical prostatectomy is still controversial. Traditionally, cystoscopy has been reserved only for those patients who present with hematuria. To establish the appropriate indication of cystoscopy in patients with asymptomatic microscopic haematuria, we reviewed 263 cases with positive reaction for urinary dipstick test on annual health screening examination. On initial examination, 18 highly significant lesions, 52 moderately significant lesions and 38 insignificant lesions were detected. No underlying lesion could be found in 96 patients and no microscopic haematuria in 59 patients. However, bladder cancers were detected in only 8 (3.0%) cases. OBJECTIVES: To report the feasibility of early fetal cystoscopy for the prenatal diagnosis and therapy of severe first-trimester megacystis.
METHODS: Between January 2008 and February 2010, early fetal cystoscopy at 16 weeks of gestation was offered to 15 patients whose fetuses presented with severe first-trimester megacystis. We present a case of urinary tuberculosis investigated initially by ultrasound and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). The MDCT-derived volumetric data were used to generate virtual cystoscopy (VC) images, which revealed a bladder ulcer. Meningitis caused by Klebsiella oxytoca (K. oxytoca) is rare, and to the best of our knowledge, no case of bacterial meningitis following cystoscopy has ever been reported. We herein report a case of meningitis caused by K. oxytoca that developed following cystoscopy. A 74-year-old man underwent cystoscopy for hematuria, and radiation-induced cystitis was suspected.
