BACKGROUND: Coupled plasma filtration and adsorption (CPFA) is a non-selective extracorporeal technique designed to modulate systemic inflammation through plasma filtration combined with resin-based adsorption. While preclinical data were promising, randomized trials in septic shock yielded conflicting results and raised safety concerns, leading to its discontinuation. Nonetheless, selected patients might benefit from CPFA when adequately delivered.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective, single-center observational study of 36 critically ill patients treated with CPFA between 2019 and 2022. A

Bodily awareness has become a central therapeutic factor in psychodynamic and body-oriented psychotherapies, yet its clinical effects and theoretical status remain insufficiently integrated. This paper offers a clinically grounded account of bodily awareness work in Psychodynamic Movement and Dance Therapy (PMT), conceptualising the body as the primary medium of lived experience rather than as an object of intervention. Drawing on phenomenology, developmental psychoanalysis, and clinical theory, the paper argues that therapeutic change in PMT unfolds through prereflective, embodied processes that p…

BACKGROUND: Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is an established treatment for adults diagnosed with personality disorders (PD). A central component of DMT is the creation of improvised dance material, which supports emotional expression and may enhance autonomy, self-efficacy, and well-being. However, structured dance-based micro-interventions derived from this practice have not yet been systematically described or evaluated. This study was the first attempt to examine the feasibility of implementing a within-subjects comparative study protocol and the acceptability of a structured dance-based micr

BACKGROUND: Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs) face a multitude of challenges in their lifetime including complex symptomatology, co-morbid health concerns, profound levels of stigmatization, and diminished access to quality care. Additionally, they are often the victims of unjust systemic biases and discrimination when they are able to engage with the healthcare system. This confluence of injustices leads to disparate physical and mental health outcomes for this vulnerable population. Globally, schizophrenia affects over 24 million, many of whom are experiencin

A review of current literature indicates that adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) feel the need for intimate and sexual relationships and maintain such relationships despite and alongside their difficulties in emotional communication, social interactions, reciprocity, and verbal and non-verbal expression. This understanding calls for the development of intervention programs designed to support the specific needs and address the problems of couples where one partner is diagnosed with ASD. In view of the relevance and significant part played by body and movement in emotional dev

BACKGROUND: Recommended therapy duration for patients hospitalized with cellulitis is 10-14 days. Unnecessary use of antibiotics is one of the key factors driving resistance. Recent studies have shown that antibiotic therapy for cellulitis in outpatients can safely be shortened, despite residual inflammation. This study will compare in hospitalized patients the safety and effectiveness of shortening antibiotic therapy for cellulitis from 12 to 6 days.
METHODS/DESIGN: In a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority trial, adult patients admitted with cellulitis will be included. Ce

BACKGROUND: Anxiety among adolescents has increased globally during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adolescents in juvenile detention centers (JDCs) may be particularly vulnerable due to restricted liberty and social isolation. Movement-based interventions such as Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) have been studied as approaches to support emotional regulation. This exploratory study investigated the psychophysiological effects of a structured DMT intervention on anxiety reduction among adolescents in JDCs, focusing on anxiety-related changes in dopamine (DA) levels and body temperature.

BACKGROUND: Obesity has become a global health crisis and is in urgent need of effective, sustainable interventions. Although conventional approaches such as dietary modification and aerobic exercise demonstrate efficacy, long-term maintenance of weight loss is still challenging. Dance movement therapy (DMT) is emerging as a promising intervention, combining physical activity with psychological and social engagement to potentially enhance compliance and holistic health outcomes. However, existing studies on DMT for weight management are limited, with inconsistent results.
