PURPOSE: To describe a case of bilateral conjunctivitis and cicatricial ectropion associated with dupilumab therapy for atopic dermatitis.
OBSERVATIONS: Severe hyperemia of the conjunctiva and eyelid margins, as well as cicatricial ectropion, began two months after starting weekly dupilumab injections for atopic dermatitis. The findings worsened over the next several months and improved after discontinuing dupilumab.
CONCLUSIONS AND IMPORTANCE: Dupilumab is a promising intervention in the management of atopic dermatitis and asthma, however, little is known about its potential ocular adverse …

IMPORTANCE: Ectropion is a complication of certain subtypes of ichthyosis and is often associated with substantial medical and cosmetic consequences. At present there is no standard of care for the treatment of ectropion in this population. Retinoids cause dyshesion and thinning of stratum corneum, thereby reducing hyperkeratosis that likely underlies ectropion in patients with ichthyosis. Paralytic ectropion can be corrected with numerous procedures. Advocates of particular procedures have previously been unable to quote statistical rates of success for each procedure over significant lengths of time. PURPOSE: Congenital lid ectropion is a rare anomaly. In the usual classification, primary ectropion caused by tightening of the anterior lamella may sometimes be confused with secondary ectropion, especially with blepharophimosis syndrome or euryblepharon.

Five patients with medial eyelid ectropion and punctal eversion due to senile changes, cicatrix, or vertical skin tightness were treated with a heretofore unreported method. Using a carbon dioxide laser, an ellipse of conjunctival-tarsal-inferior muscle tissue was excised from the inner surface of the ectropic lid inferior to the punctum.
