Enzymatic synthesis of aromatic biobased polymers in green, low-boiling solvents.

Given the urge to accelerate the substitution of petrol-derived solvents not only in more traditional fields like pharmaceuticals, personal care, or electronics but also in innovative research processes, this work focuses on the utilisation of four biobased solvents as media for the enzymatic synthesis of aliphatic-aromatic polyesters. As building blocks, the lignin-derived diethyl-2,4-pyridinedicarboxylate was selected as the potentially biobased, aromatic component while more classical diols such as 1,4-butanediol and 1,8-octanediol were used as the aliphatic portion. Results show that among

Essential oils as an effective alternative for the treatment of COVID-19: Molecular interaction analysis of protease (Mpro) with pharmacokinetics and toxicological properties.

BACKGROUND: The current health concern to the entire world is the chronic respiratory disease caused by coronavirus 2 (COVID-19). A specific treatment or proper therapy is still lacking, and the investigations from across the world for proper drug/vaccine development towards disease control are in progress. The Coronavirus replication takes place by the conversion of the polypeptide into functional protein and this occurs due to the key enzyme Main protease (Mpro). Therefore, identification of natural and effective Mpro inhibitors could be a safe and promising approach for COVID-19 control. M

Odorant Inhibition in Mosquito Olfaction.

How chemical signals are integrated at the peripheral sensory system of insects is still an enigma. Here we show that when coexpressed with Orco in Xenopus oocytes, an odorant receptor from the southern house mosquito, CquiOR32, generated inward (regular) currents when challenged with cyclohexanone and methyl salicylate, whereas eucalyptol and fenchone elicited inhibitory (upward) currents. Responses of CquiOR32-CquiOrco-expressing oocytes to odorants were reduced in a dose-dependent fashion by coapplication of inhibitors. This intrareceptor inhibition was also manifested in vivo in fruit flie

Regaining apical patency after obturation with gutta-percha and a sealer containing mineral trioxide aggregate.

INTRODUCTION: MTA Fillapex (Angelus Solucoes Odontologicas, Londrina PR, Brazil) was introduced as a mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)-based sealer used for endodontic obturation. There is a lack of research that evaluates the ability of different solvents to soften MTA-based sealers during retreatment. This study tested the ability of 4 commonly used endodontic solvents to soften gutta-percha and MTA Fillapex to allow for the re-establishment of apical patency. METHODS: Eighty-six extracted maxillary anterior teeth were instrumented to the working length to a size 45 (.04 taper size). Teeth w
