A 59-year-old man presented in January 2003 with generalized lymphadenopathy. An inguinal lymph node biopsy showed mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). We present a case of a 32-year-old male who developed capecitabine-induced phimosis which resolved spontaneously without the need for circumcision within a few days of discontinuation of chemotherapy. The patient was on capecitabine with irinotecan chemotherapy for peritoneal metastasis from adenocarcinoma of the lower esophagus. A detailed literature review showed a few case reports with penile and scrotal erythema, ulceration, and swelling along with hand-foot syndrome, but none reported the occurrence of phimosis with spontaneous resolution.

Both irinotecan (CPT-11, Camptosar) and paclitaxel have been shown to have single-agent activity in adenocarcinomas of the esophagus and gastric cardia. A phase I trial of the combination at UCLA established the dose as irinotecan at 225 mg/m2 and paclitaxel at 100 mg/m2 every 3 weeks. Preliminary data from a phase II trial of this regimen in adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal junction show good tolerability and promising activity (response rate of 27%), even in previously treated patients.

We report a cisplatin and irinotecan combination in patients with biopsy-proven advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The present study investigated the anticancer effects of irinotecan (IR) combined with the acid ceramidase inhibitor Ceranib-2 in HT-29 human colorectal cancer cells.
