Interstitial laser-induced coagulation (ILC) is a new, minimally invasive, procedure for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It is based on the placement of special light guides in the prostatic tissue, either transurethrally or perineally. The radiation source is a Nd-YAG laser, which is active for 3 or 5 min per fiber placement, respectively, with the power reduced stepwise. Laser coagulation of concha nasalis inferior is essentially atraumatic, bloodless, sterile and causes no edema. The specific effect of a laser beam on microcirculation suggests that laser surgery can be viewed as a pathogenetic method of therapy of vasomotor rhinitis. We report the case of a 4-year-old, castrated 4.2-kg Scottish fold cat with recurrent epistaxis that was unresponsive to medical therapy. Diathermocoagulation of the nasal mucosa with a diode laser controlled the epistaxis and there was no significant recurrence of epistaxis during 1 year of follow-up.

OBJECTIVES: To describe a new method of treatment of the fourth branchial pouch sinuses by laser endoscopic coagulation of the fistula.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective study of two children aged 3 and 12 years with fourth branchial pouch sinuses. Both children presented recurrent cervical abscesses. The diagnosis was established on results of ultrasound, barium study, CT scan and pharyngoscopy. After recovering from infection, the definitive treatment was a laser diode cauterization of the fistulous route and its pharyngeal opening.
RESULTS: Outcome was rapidly favorable in both children

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) represents a disease of the immature retina of preterm infants due to irregular vascularisation.
