A rapid latex agglutination (LA) test was compared with complement fixation and enzyme immunoassay for the determination of herpes simplex virus immune status in sera of patients. Of 173 samples, 88% gave concordant results in all three assays (115 positive and 37 negative). The LA and complement fixation tests agreed 92% of the time, and the LA agreed with the enzyme immunoassay 94% of the time. LA is a simple and rapid test which can be used for determining the herpes simplex virus immune status in sera of patients.

The latex agglutination test (LAT) was compared with the complement fixation test (CFT), double diffusion test (DDT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the serodiagnosis of South American paragonimiasis. The sera of 37 patients with amebic liver abscess and of 20 healthy donors were tested in Stick-ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), and the results compared to those obtained with complement fixation, indirect hemagglutination, counterelectrophoresis, and latex agglutination. Stick-ELISA results correlated positively with those of complement fixation and indirect hemagglutination at the one percent level.

Four immunological reactions of the liver echinococcosis are examined - Complement fixation test (CF), Latex agglutination test (LA), Bentonite agglutination test (BA) and Indirect haemagglutination test (IHA). The diagnostic "potentialities" of every sample are specified separately. IHA has given the best results, followed by LA. BA and CF in last place.
