BACKGROUND/AIM: Brain metastases (BMs) are the most frequent intracranial tumors in adults and one of the greatest challenges for modern oncology. Most are derived from lung, breast, renal cell, and colorectal carcinomas and melanomas. A number of major modifications were made to the classification of head and neck carcinomas in the eighth edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer, Cancer Staging Manual and Union for International Cancer Control TNM classification of Malignant Tumors. We report a rare case of metastatic epithelioid haemangioendothelioma from an unknown primary site presenting with axillary lymph node metastases. The patient also had a new-onset membranous glomerulonephritis and thromboembolism, which we postulate were paraneoplastic. The pathogenesis of this rare cancer, the risk of misdiagnosis and membranous glomerulonephritis as a paraneoplastic syndrome are discussed.

Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) is a type of cancer that cannot be traced back to its primary site and accounts for 3-5% of all cancers. Established targeted therapies are lacking for CUP, leading to generally poor outcomes. We developed OncoNPC, a machine-learning classifier trained on targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) data from 36,445 tumors across 22 cancer types from three institutions.
