A simple drug-delivery microneedling technique modality successfully improves linear atrophic scars.

BACKGROUND: Atrophic scars are white, dermal depressions, caused by the destruction of collagen fibers and decrease in epidermal cells, following inflammation after different types of trauma. They lead to significant physical, aesthetic and psychological barriers and their treatment remain a therapeutic challenge for dermatologists. Microneedling has been shown to improve scars by stimulating angiogenesis and neocolagenesis and the combination of anti-fibrotic drugs could potentialize the results. METHODS: We present 8 cases of patients with linear scars, successfully treated with two session

Stimuli-responsive microneedles: Engineered solutions for multifaceted diabetic wound healing.

Diabetic wounds are among the most common complications in patients with diabetes, often occurring in the lower extremities and manifesting as diabetic foot ulcers. These wounds are often associated with issues such as infection, peripheral artery disease, hyperglycemia, and hypoxia, making them difficult to heal and prone to becoming chronic wounds. MNs enable painless, controlled transdermal drug delivery, overcoming limitations of traditional methods such as poor permeability and short drug duration. Stimuli-responsive microneedles targeting specific triggers have developed rapidly in recen

Bioactive microneedles enabled by Ca-MOF-regulated collagenase for synergistic hypertrophic scar remodeling.

Hypertrophic scars resulting from pathological fibrosis and excessive collagen deposition cause significant functional and aesthetic impairment. Conventional therapies often fail to address the underlying molecular mechanisms of collagen overproduction. To overcome these limitations, we developed a novel layered dissolving microneedle system (MOF-CCH-MN) capable of delivering a synergistic therapeutic payload. This system incorporates Clostridium histolyticum collagenase (CCH) loaded within a calcium-based metal-organic framework (Ca-MOF), embedded in a γ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA) matrix. Char

Vitamin C mesotherapy with microneedling for gingival depigmentation: A case study.

BACKGROUND: Surgical methods of gingival depigmentation can be challenging, particularly if the gingival phenotype is thin due to the risk of gingival recession and bone exposure. Thus, exploring alternative, non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment modalities is warranted. In dermatology, vitamin C is extensively used for depigmentation and microneedling for collagen induction, with limited literature about its usage for improving gingival esthetics. The present preliminary case study aims to explore the synergistic use of vitamin C mesotherapy with microneedling for the esthetic management
