Congenital gangrene in newborns is a rare condition characterised by tissue gangrene present at birth. It may result from intrauterine vascular compromise, birth trauma or clotting disorders. Early diagnosis and prompt management, including surgical intervention and supportive care, are critical to prevent severe complications and improve survival outcomes. We are reporting a case of congenital gangrene of the gluteal region in the newborn.

The treatment results of 35 wounded with rectal and perineal lesion, treated in the period from 1991 to 1993 were analyzed retrospectively. In military hospitals, 82% of wounded were primarily surgically managed. The majority (65.8%) was with injury of intraperitoneal rectal segment, 10 patients (28.5%) were with the lesion of extraperitoneal segment and 2 patients (5.7%) were with the injury of anal tract and perineum. Reported in this paper are two cases of aggressive perineovulvar angiomyxoma. Soft, painless tumours with gelatinous cut surface were detected in either patient, two women aged 32 and 46 years. Histological findings included fibromyxoid stroma with spindle-shaped and stellate cells as well as vascularization in striking abundance. Most of the vessels were thin-walled. The special and highly complicated anatomy of the continence organ is the basis for surgery in the perineal region and in the region of anus and rectum. The rectal cavernous body, the sphincter ani internus, which is aganglionic, as well as the asymmetry of the female external sphincter muscle, are new facts which must be given attention in respect of pathogenesis and therapy of many diseases occurring in this region. The article discusses piles, anorectal abscesses and fistulas, prolapse of the rectum and rectal cancer under these special aspects.

We present a case of primary cutaneous actinomycosis of unclear pathogenesis. Successful reconstruction of vaginal and perineal defects requires close communication and cooperation between the extirpative and reconstructive surgeon. Median raphe cysts of the perineum are uncommon congenital lesions of the male genitalia. They can be found all the way from the distal penis and scrotum toward the perineum in a midline position. They are considered as congenital alterations in embryologic development. A case of a 6 year-old boy is presented. Review of the literature relevant to children was made regarding the embryologic, diagnostic, and treatment aspects. We believe it is important that adult and pediatric urologists recognize these lesions and their management to provide the appropriate information to the parents.

Median raphe cysts of the perineum are uncommon congenital lesions. Congenital lesions rarely encountered in daily clinical practice. Their diagnosis in childhood is particularly rare. We report two children with these cysts requiring surgical removal. We review the embryological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of these cysts, which could be of interest to pediatricians and pediatric surgeons when faced with this pathology in children.
