Bedside pleurodesis through a tube thoracostomy has been shown to be effective treatment of malignant pleural effusion and pneumothorax with persistent air leak. A variety of agents can be used, and each has been shown to produce rare but potentially serious complications. For decades, chemical pleurodesis using minocycline has been widely accepted as an effective, safe, and cheap treatment for persistent air leak after pulmonary resection. We report a case with persistent postoperative air leak that suffered from cardiorespiratory arrest just after a minocycline pleurodesis, which may be related to the aspiration of minocycline solution from a bronchopleural fistula. Therefore, we suggest a bronchoscopic examination be performed before the pleurodesis if a bronchopleural fistula is highly suspected.

The purpose of this article is to report a case of hemoptysis occurring in combination with secondary spontaneous pneumothorax following chemical pleurodesis by talc. A Japanese male with cancer of renal pelvis was found with the left pneumothorax and multiple lung metastases. A computed-tomography scan revealed severe emphysema throughout the lungs. This survey addressed common methods of video-assisted thoracoscopic pleurodesis for spontaneous pneumothorax. Chylothorax is a known complication of postcardiac surgery and the most common cause of pleural effusion in neonates. Conservative management is usually adopted, including Nil-per-Oral (NPO), treatment of underlying etiology of infection, and use of octreotide. METHODS: Adult, male, 12-week-old, Wistar-albino rats (n=52), were randomly-divided into four-groups, referred to A, B, C and D.
