BACKGROUND: The prognosis of patients with relapsed Ewing sarcoma is poor. In this study, we aimed to pooled-analyze the efficacy and safety of the combination of irinotecan and temozolomide in treating patients with relapsed Ewing sarcoma.

BACKGROUND: Kawasaki disease (KD) is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in some countries. In Poland the diagnosis of KD is still rarely reported. KD is an acute systemic febrile illness of unknown aetiology, predominantly affecting children under five years of age. Delay in diagnosis and treatment is associated with an increased risk of coronary artery aneurysms and late cardiac complications.

From February 1987 to September 1991, 122 men with erectile impotence and confirmed cavernosal venous leakage underwent penile venous surgery. After a postoperative follow-up of 36 months, only 18.8% of the patients had satisfactory erections without further therapy. Another 32.5% postoperatively converted to responders to intracavernous injection therapy with vasoactive drugs. Therefore, a total of 51.3% benefitted from the operation. INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: The common European adder (Vipera berus) is the only venomous snake that is found naturally in Poland. This study presents the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of V.berus bites in Eastern Poland and describes the methods of poisoning treatment.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Medical documentation of 15 patients hospitalized at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Neuroinfections of the Medical University of Bialystok between 1998-2010 because of V.berus bite was analyzed retrospectively.

Frequency and characteristics of early gastric cancer (egc) were evaluated in a retrospective study of 511 surgical specimens of gastric carcinoma. We observed a total of 46 egc in 40 patients. The predominant macroscopic type was IIc, followed by I and III. On the basis of histological appearance, 25 egc were of intestinal type and 15 of diffuse type. Retrospective and prospective investigations of children to alcoholic women gave an incidence of fetal alcohol lesion of one per 300 deliveries of whom half had the complete fetal alcohol syndrome. PURPOSE: To review all cases of orbit exenteration performed at the Orbit Sector, Ophthalmology Department - Federal University of São Paulo, from 1998 to 2003.
METHODS: We reviewed conditions leading to orbital exenteration in 21 patients at the Orbit Sector of Unifesp-EPM from August 1998 to May 2003. A retrospective study has been carried out in a hospital over the past 5 years on 13 patients of mucormycosis. The study included evaluating the etiology, pathology, clinical features, management, and complications of mucormycosis. The results and conclusions have been studied and summarised in our paper.

We review cases of thymic cell tumor treated between January 1991 and March 1998. Nineteen of the 23 cases studied involved thymoma. Eight (42%) were asymptomatic, 4 (21%) were associated with myasthenia gravis and 7 (37%) were symptomatic. The most common symptom was non-specific chest pain, reported by 4 (47%) patients with symptoms. Classifying the cases of thymoma by Masaoka's system, we found that 12 were cases of thymoma in stage I (63.2%), 4 in stage II (21.1%) and 3 in stage III (15.8%). No stage IV patients were treated. The results of a survey of 50 cases of endophthalmitis following surgery, trauma, corneal ulcers, or of endogenous origin are described. Most of the post-surgical cases followed intracapsular cataract surgery and in 48.1% of the eyes, the predominant organisms were gram positive bacteria.
