We present a case report of testicular seminoma with intraluminal metastasis to the ureter causing obstruction and hydronephrosis. To our knowledge, this is the fourth case to be reported in the world literature of metastatic tumor to the ureter from a primary testicular seminoma.

Heterogeneity of placental-like alkaline phosphatase (PLAP-like enzyme) in seminoma was studied. PLAP-like enzyme from seminoma tissues was separated into three areas with different proportions between tumors, while PLAP and PLAP-like enzymes in normal testes were separated into two areas on the basis of hydrophobicity. By use of lectin affinity chromatography, PLAP-like enzyme in seminoma revealed extra sugar chains compared to PLAP, indicating heterogeneity of the carbohydrate moiety. Testicular cancer is the most frequent malignancy in young adult males. Seminoma, the most frequent cell type, causes exophthalmos on a hormonal basis; actual tumor invasion of the orbit has been reported once. We report here a second case of orbital invasion by seminoma. When tumor has spread beyond the retroperitoneum, treatment with chemotherapy is usually recommended. A biopsy of the orbital metastatic tumor may be the technique with least morbidity to document tumor state prior to committing the patient to systemic chemotherapy.

Primary pure cell seminoma of the mediastinum is a rare and potentially fatal lesion. Encroachment on or invasion of adjacent structures is common, as are distant metastases. The differentiation between pure cell seminomas and mixed germ cell tumors should be made since the extreme radiosensitivity of seminomas improves the prognosis. The presence of metastases from primary mediastinal seminomas, as with testicular germinomas, need not be a deterrent to long-term cure. INTRODUCTION: Seminoma comprises approximately 50% of testicular germ cell tumors. Renal metastases are infrequent, and are usually recognized at necropsy.
CLINICAL CASE: A 24 years-old man with history of left radical orchiectomy due to classical seminoma (stage I), and adjuvant radiotherapy, showed elevated levels of beta-human chorionic gonadotropin and lactate dehydrogenase in the eleven month follow-up. Computed tomography showed a 9 × 8 cm lobulated, heterogeneous tumor in the left kidney. The histopathological and immunohistochemical assay demonstrated a classical metastatic seminoma.

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinicopathologic features and biological behavior of spermatocytic seminoma.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed as seminoma, spermatocytic seminoma between January 2003 and May 2011, was performed. Clinical data, HE stained section and immunohistochemical staining (SP method) were reviewed with follow-up.

We retrospectively reviewed 67 patients with pure seminoma who were treated in our hospital between 1991 and 2009. Fifteen (22.4%) patients had metastatic or recurrent disease and underwent chemotherapy. Induction chemotherapy provided freedom from disease with no recurrence in 9 patients. We report a case of a 56-year-old male with an anaplastic variant of spermatocytic seminoma of the left testis. Grossly, the tumor measured 10 x 7.5 x 6.5 cm and consisted of soft grayish-white tissue, which varied from fleshy to gelatinous with formation of some pseudocysts. Although scleromyxedema has been associated with neoplasm in rare instances, the literature showed no evidence of association with seminoma. We report a 43-year-old man who presented with a scleromyxedema and relapsed seminoma. The skin lesions of scleromyxedema cleared completely on treatment of seminoma with chemotherapy.

Four examples of spermatocytic seminoma with a predominant anaplastic component occurred in men 33 to 43 years of age, without histories of cyptorchidism.
