Telethermography and thermography en plaque have a high sensitivity and a low specifity. In 75% they are applied to diagnose diseases of the female breast. Data concerning diagnostic reliability differ considerably. The author emphasizes the classification of thermographies of the female breast.

PURPOSE: To evaluate ocular surface temperature in assessing the efficacy of anti-allergic eye drops.
METHODS: Thirteen asymptomatic patients (24.7 ± 2.8 years) with proven seasonal allergic conjunctivitis due to cedar pollen were studied. A 0.025% levocabastine ophthalmic suspension was instilled in one eye (levocabastine eye) and artificial tears in the other eye (artificial tear eye) in a masked fashion 10 min prior to a conjunctival allergen challenge (CAC). A study is presented of the role of thermography (thermovision) in evaluation of disorders of microcirculation and objectivization of the pain syndrome in some chronic digestive diseases. It is shown that thermography enables to evaluate the functional state of microvessels. Thermovision makes it possible in most cases to objectivize pain, especially in the painful zones on the middle abdominal wall that is registered by an elevated infrared radiation.

The results of 102 thyroid liquid crystal thermography (LCT) examinations are discussed. Clinical and laboratory examination, scintigraphy, ultrasonography and LCT were performed in all of the cases. LCT is not suitable for obtaining morphological data and not accurate enough in evaluating thyroid function, but it is a good additional study. It is inexpensive, not hazardous and fast, and can be the first examination in an endocrine outpatient clinic as well as in the follow up of patients with thyroid disease.

The typical thermographic pictures of hands of patients with progressive systemic sclerosis are described. The pictures were made with liquid crystals. Thermography with liquid crystals is also suitable for the evaluation of changes in temperature during treatment.
