A study of factors affecting children's problem behaviors using two unique sibships, monozygotic twins adopted together from China (MZ-CTT twins) and virtual twins (same-age unrelated siblings reared together; VTs), is presented. OBJECTIVE: To study the perinatal complications of late preterm twins (LPTs) versus early term twins (ETTs).
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for the complications of 246 LPTs, 496 ETTs, and their mothers. The risk factors for late preterm birth were analyzed. According to gestational age, the twins were divided into five groups: 34-34+6 weeks (n=44), 35-35+6 weeks (n=70), 36-36+6 weeks (n=132), 37-37+6 weeks (n=390), and 38-38+6 weeks (n=106). CASE REPORT: Secundigravida nullipara, 28-years old, admitted for profuse bleeding at 13 weeks of gestation. Ultrasound confirmed vital pregnancy of conjoined twins - thoracopagus. After prenatal diagnostic consultation the patient decided for termination of pregnancy. Molecular analysis confirmed a female fetus without any chromosomal anomalies.

The breastfeeding experience of a mother and her preterm conjoined twins is described. Assisting the mother in achieving her breastfeeding goal presented unusual nursing-care problems in securing, positioning, and comforting the twins. This case report emphasizes the individualized support provided to this mother and her infants, which was a critical factor in their breastfeeding success.

From the 474 twins born in 1950 in 100 Flemish cities and towns in Belgium, 85% reached the age of 20 yr, against 37% in Austria a hundred years ago. More female than male twins are married (P = 0.03), in particular nonidentical female twins (P = 0.02). Fertility seems to be lower in male, especially male-male twins (P less than 0.03), and most strikingly so in identical male twins (P = 0.05). There seems to be no influence of premature birth or low birthweight.
