The relationship between gastrointestinal symptoms in FGID patients and D-type personality and emotion regulation strategies.

This study examines the relationship between gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and type D personality traits, as well as emotion regulation strategies. Analyzing a diverse group of FGID patients, we uncover significant effects of gender and age on gastrointestinal symptoms. Negative Affectivity emerges as a key predictor, positively associated with symptom severity, whereas Social Inhibition correlates negatively with Abdominal Pain. Additionally, our findings suggest that the expressive suppression strategy predicts heightened gastrointes

Type D personality and self-esteem in patients with fibromyalgia: a cross-sectional case-control study.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex disease related to several factors. Psychosocial elements, such as type D personality and low level of self-esteem, might increase disease burden. The current study aimed to investigate type D personality and self-esteem in patients with FM. Female patients with FM and age-matched, healthy controls were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Type D personality was evaluated using the type D scale (DS-14). The Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES) was used to assess self-esteem and psychosomatic symptoms. Type D personality was observed in 58.6% of the patients (n =

Adverse clinical events in patients treated with sirolimus-eluting stents: the impact of Type D personality.

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the impact of psychological risk factors on cardiac prognosis in the drug-eluting stent era. We examined whether the distressed personality (Type D) moderates the effect of percutaneous coronary intervention with sirolimus-eluting stent implantation on adverse clinical events at 2-year follow-up. Type D is an emerging risk factor in patients with cardiovascular disease. DESIGN: Prospective follow-up study. METHODS: Three hundred and fifty-eight patients with ischemic heart disease, who consecutively underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with sirolimus

Relationships between depression, anxiety, type D personality, and worry and rumination in patients with coronary heart disease.

Psychological distress, including depression and anxiety, and Type-D personality are prevalent in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes. Worry and rumination may be among the core features responsible for driving psychological distress in these patients. However, the nature of associations between these constructs remains to be delineated, yet they may have implications for the assessment and treatment of CHD patients. This study aimed to (1) explore the factorial structure and potential overlap between measures of depression, anxiety and t

Association of Type D personality to perceived side effects and adherence in CPAP-treated patients with OSAS.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the treatment of choice for obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS), but side effects are common and long-term adherence low. The Type D (distressed) personality is defined as a combination of negative affectivity and social inhibition. The association of Type D personality with adherence has not been studied in CPAP-treated patients with OSAS. This study aimed to describe the prevalence of Type D personality in OSAS patients with CPAP treatment longer than 6 months and the association with self-reported side effects and adherence. A cross-section

Associations Between Type D Personality, Psychological Symptoms, Pain Severity, and Migraine-Related Outcomes in Women with Migraine.

Background/Objectives: Migraine is common in women and is associated with significant disability and reduced quality of life. Type D personality, characterized by negative affectivity and social inhibition, has been linked to poorer outcomes in chronic illnesses; however, its association with migraine-related impact and functioning in women has not been fully clarified. This study examined the associations of Type D personality with headache impact and overall functioning in women with migraine, with an exploratory focus on the indirect statistical associations involving psychological symptoms
