PURPOSE: To report a case of a topiramate-induced bilateral acute angle closure that was treated successfully by argon laser peripheral iridoplasty (ALPI).
METHODS: A 59-year-old healthy woman taking oral topiramate developed bilateral acute angle closure. B-scan ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and slit-lamp adapted ocular coherence tomography were performed.

Three infants with unilateral congenital anophthalmia and contracted sockets received early dermis fat and eyelid skin grafts, plus progressive conformer therapy. This approach expanded socket volume, improved periorbital and eyelid dimensions, and enhanced facial esthetics. OBJECTIVE: Ocular function is fundamental for environmental adaptation and survival capacity. Growth factors are necessary for a mature eyeball, needed for adequate vision. However, the consequences of the deficiency of circulating growth hormone (GH) and its effector insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) on the physical aspects of the human eye are still debated. A model of untreated isolated GH deficiency (IGHD), with low but measurable serum GH, may clarify this issue. The aim of this study was to assess the ocular aspects of adult IGHD individuals who have never received GH therapy.

The authors analyze the results of early (on days 5-8 postoperation) contact correction with soft contact lenses (SCL), carried out in 126 infants (206 eyes), operated on for congenital cataract extraction at the age of 2-12 mos. Soviet IOZM, Czechoslovak Spofa-lens, and American Bausch and Lomb lenses have been applied for 18-14 hrs daily, in parallel with the treatment for amblyopia (direct occlusion, a total exposure of the retina), carried out at home. A thorough adaptation, observance of the hygiene and schedule of the lens use have been a guarantee of the absence of ocular complications.
