: Inherited antithrombin deficiency (OMIM 107300) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that could increase the risk of venous thromboembolism and is usually caused by mutations of SERPINC1. Herein, we present a case of a novel mutation in the SERPINC1 gene in a Chinese patient. The patient was a 54-year-old man who presented with recurrent venous thromboembolism and was without a recent history of any precipitating factors. Whole exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing identified a novel heterozygous variant on exon 2 of SERPINC1 gene (c.142G>A, p.P48S).

We reported a 34-year-old female patient with refractory idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in whom a subacute subdural hematoma occurred without any preceding trauma during danazol administration which resulted in a marked decrease of plasma fibrinogen level. We describe a case of renal vein thrombosis in association with the nephrotic syndrome. The patient had recurrent pulmonary emboli which, having failed to respond to routine anticoagulant treatment, were managed successfully by the insertion of a Greenfield filter into the inferior vena cava above the renal vein thrombosis site. The only coagulation abnormality in this patient was a deficiency of antithrombin III.

A 23 year old primipara with EPH gestosis after caesarean section suffered massive disseminated intravascular coagulation resulting in anuria, respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding and disturbance of liver function. By treatment with antithrombin-III concentrates, fresh blood and fresh frozen plasma we were able to normalise coagulation disorders and to restore organ functions. Causes and therapeutical management of these diseases are discussed.
