An 80-year-old female was referred to our institution due to transient right upper limb weakness. Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography revealed a tumor in the left atrium. The tumor was attached to the posterior wall of the left atrium near the atrioventricular node. Intraoperative pathological examination revealed that the tumor was a myxoma, and complete resection was successfully performed. However, she experienced persistent complete atrioventricular block postoperatively and required pacemaker implantation.

A case of a baby with supraventricular tachycardia who died is reported. Histological examination of the cardiac conduction system revealed a hypoplastic sinus node and an unusual connexion between the branching bundle and the atrioventricular node. There was no electrocardiographic evidence to suggest that the anomalous pathway functioned; the unusual configuration was probably within the normal range of morphological variations.

Intracardiac electrophysiologic studies of the sinus node and conductive system of the heart were carried out in 51 patients with ventricular allorhythmias. In half of the cases, ventricular allorhythmias occurred in patients with impaired sinus node operation and abnormal atrioventricular impulse conduction. It is suggested that anti-arrhythmic drugs associated with adverse chrono- and dromotropic effects should be used with caution.

AIM: Symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias and the perception of the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker can negatively affect mental health including sexuality and sexual behaviors. The aim of this study was to assess the attitude towards sexuality and sexual behaviors among men with cardiac arrhythmias.
METHODS: The study included 80 men (aged 58.6 ± 9.23 years) with heart rhythm disorders who had qualified for cardiac pacemaker implantation. The International Index of Erectile Function IIEF-15 was completed at least one day before cardiac pacemaker implantation by all of the patients.

Basing on results of examination of a cohort of patients with typical paroxysmal reciprocal atrioventricular tachycardia a group of patients with continuous curve of anterograde conduction was distinguished. The use of incremental doses of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) during transesophageal atrial pacing allowed in some cases to identify slow conduction through atrioventricular node and to initiate paroxysmal nodal tachycardia. The dose of ATP causing conduction block over fast pathway depended on the duration of effective refractory period.
