Complete visceral inversion occurs in 1/5,000 individuals. In 64%of cases, complete visceral inversion is complicated by the malformation of other organs. Careful attention is required when performing surgeries. In recent years, with the development of laparoscopic surgery, some cases of laparoscopic surgery with complete visceral inversion have been reported. Herein, we report a case of safely performed laparoscopic surgery for sigmoid colon cancer with complete visceral inversion along with a relevant discussion.

An 80-year-old man reported at our hospital with the chiefcomplaint ofconstipation. He was diagnosed with sigmoid colon cancer(T4aN0M0, Stage II). He also had steroid-resistant idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP)since 2001. After a high dose g-globulin therapy, he underwent sigmoidectomy and splenectomy simultaneously because ofthe steroidresistant ITP. While some reports suggest that ITP is dominant when it occurs with blood cancer, others suggest that it can be immunologically dominant even when it occurs with solid tumors. ITP has a significant effect on solid tumors.

Uterine wall perforation which is commonly seen through the posterior wall of the uterus is the most serious complication of an intrauterine device (IUD). We present a case of laparoscopic removal of an IUD from the sigmoid colon in a 31-years-old female who was admitted to hospital with a history of pelvic pain and abnormal vaginal bleeding for one month. The dislocated IUD was removed from the sigmoid colon of laparoscopic intervention without any complications. In conclusion, the treatment modality for the removal of a dislocated IUD is possible by laparoscopic surgery in selected patients

INTRODUCTION: Endometriosis is a common disease affecting women of reproductive age. Endometrial tissue can implant to various tissues including gastrointestinal tissues and cause significant GI symptoms. Rarely, these implants cause constricting lesions that require surgical intervention.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report a case of a 27-year-old woman with extensive endometriosis and new onset gastrointestinal symptoms. A near-complete constricting endometrioma involving the sigmoid colon was identified and required surgical resection with side-to-side anastomosis.

OBJECTIVE: To study clinical effect of vaginoplasty with sigmoid colon by laparoscopic surgery.
METHOD: Clinical data of 45 cases with laparoscopic vaginoplasty using a vascularized pedicled sigmoid colon flap were reviewed, including 41 cases with congenital absence of vagina and 4 cases with male pseudohermaphroditism. A type IV paraesophageal hernia is a rare complication in esophageal hiatus and is an uncommon presentation of hiatal hernia. We report herein a 71-year-old man who presented with abdominal pain, nausea and constipation that was attributed to a sigmoid volvulus. At laparotomy, the sigmoid volvulus was identified as strangulated and involved in a type IV paraesophageal hernia in which the esophageal junction was located in its normal anatomic position. The esophageal hiatus was impressively dilated and there was no evidence suggesting previous mechanical disruption of the esophageal hiatus.

BACKGROUND: Typhoid fever is a severe infective disease endemic in the areas where sanitation is poor. Its serious complication is bowel perforation with terminal ileum as the commonest perforation site. We report a case of an extremely unusual site of perforation in sigmoid colon due to typhoid fever.
METHODS: An 18-month-old boy presented with no passage of flatus and feces along with guarding and rigidity. Exploratory laparotomy revealed sigmoid colon perforation and Widal test was strongly positive for typhoid fever. Sigmoid loop colostomy was performed on the patient.
