PURPOSE: The mechanical theory of glaucoma postulates that raised intraocular pressure (IOP) causes laminar distortion resulting in damage to axons at the optic nerve head. There is some evidence that the change in morphology may occur over a short time course. This study aimed to analyze the evolution and trends of scientific research on wheelchair rugby. A comprehensive search of the Scopus database was conducted from inception to January 2026. In total, 190 articles published between 1998 and 2025 were analysed, yielding a compound annual growth rate of 7.47%. Output increased markedly in recent years, with 2021-2025 representing 35.79% of the total production, and peak annual volumes observed in 2022 (n=21) and 2018/2021/2023 (n=14 each). BACKGROUND: To date, the term 'acne mechanica' defines different cutaneous lesions caused by mechanical injury. Objective: To re-define the spectrum of cutaneous lesions caused by mechanical injury by determining their clinical and histological characteristics, to discuss and identify triggering and pathophysiologic elements.
METHODS: Clinical, histological and pathophysiological differences of 135 published cases of acne mechanica were analysed and compared to cases provided from our clinics.

We studied the effect of topical fibronectin on epithelial wound healing and ulceration in alkali-burned rabbit corneas. After the first 56 hours, fibronectin accelerated complete surface reepithelialization to 4.3 +/- 2.3 days. Control alkali-burned corneas treated with phosphate-buffered saline or albumin did not resurface for 6.7 +/- 3.7 days and 6.2 +/- 2.5 days, respectively.
