Cannabidiol Rescues TNF-α-Inhibited Proliferation, Migration, and Osteogenic/Odontogenic Differentiation of Dental Pulp Stem Cells.

Strategies to promote dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) functions including proliferation, migration, pro-angiogenic effects, and odontogenic/osteogenic differentiation are in urgent need to restore pulpitis-damaged dentin/pulp regeneration and DPSCs-based bone tissue engineering applications. Cannabidiol (CBD), an active component of Cannabis sativa has shown anti-inflammation, chemotactic, anti-microbial, and tissue regenerative potentials. Based on these facts, this study aimed to analyze the effect of CBD on DPSCs proliferation, migration, and osteogenic/odontogenic differentiation in basal a

Nociceptive behaviour induced by dental application of irritants to rat incisors: a new model for tooth inflammatory pain.

Animal models simulating acute human pulpitis are still lacking. The rat incisors present a particular situation where most of their innervation is considered to be unmyelinated and concentrated mainly in the tooth pulp. This study reports on a new model for dental pain induced by inflammatory agents applied to the tooth pulps of incisors. In different groups of rats, artificial crowns were fixed on the lower incisors, after cutting 1-2mm of their distal extremities. A volume of 7-10 microl of solutions of saline, capsaicin (1-10mg/ml) or formalin (2.5% or 5%) was injected in the crown cavity,

An endodontic-periodontal lesion with primary periodontal disease: a case report on its bacterial profile.

The microflora in the periodontal pockets can affect the dental pulp and cause endodontic-periodontal lesions or retrograde pulpitis. Here we report an endodontic-periodontal lesion together with its bacterial profile. The lesion occurred in the maxillary right first molar of a 40-year-old woman who presented at our hospital complaining of a violent toothache since the previous night. Clinically, the tooth was caries-free and an electric pulp test showed it to be vital. The tooth showed signs of advanced periodontitis and the periodontal pocket was deep, reaching the apex of the palatal root.

Oral Manifestations in a Child With Distal Renal Tubular Acidosis, and Refractory Rickets.

Renal tubular acidosis (RTA) is a group of disorders in which there is an alteration in acid-base homeostasis because of the impairment of nephrons to excrete hydrogen ions or reabsorb bicarbonate ions, resulting in chronic metabolic acidosis. RTA is an important cause of rickets, particularly 'resistant rickets'. Dental manifestations frequently reported in patients with RTA include enamel hypoplasia and amelogenesis imperfecta, affecting permanent dentition. To the best of our knowledge, the literature pertaining to the dental manifestations in RTA with secondary rickets is scarce. This case

AI-initiated second opinions: a framework for advanced caries treatment planning.

Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into medical and dental applications can be challenging due to clinicians' distrust of computer predictions and the potential risks associated with erroneous outputs. We introduce the idea of using AI to trigger second opinions in cases where there is a disagreement between the clinician and the algorithm. By keeping the AI prediction hidden throughout the diagnostic process, we minimize the risks associated with distrust and erroneous predictions, relying solely on human predictions. The experiment involved 3 experienced dentists, 25 dental students, a
