A standard surfactant solution was applied to one side of the back in 29 male guinea pigs and the same surfactant solution with an addition of 2.5% selenium disulfide to the other side. The application was carried out a total of six times at three-day intervals. The detergent was not washed away to provide an intense exposure to the active substance. Investigations of the hair root status before and after treatment showed significant increase in telogen hair. The present results of animal experiments cannot be transferred without reservations to conventional application in man. However, they m

Rabbits were exposed to carbon disulphide vapour in toxocological chamber. Increased platelet adhesiveness was found in exposed animals, dependent on CS2 concentration in the chamber and duration of intoxication. The authors suggest that the increased platelet adhesiveness may result from lipid metabolism disturbances.

Under the effect of carbon-disulphide intoxication on the experimental animals, a significant decrease in serum copper and ceruloplasmin levels was observed. The decrease was aggravated with prolongation of carbon disulphide intoxication due to loss of appetite, formation of chelating compounds with carbon disulphide metabolites and increased loss of copper in urine. However, reinvestigated at 20 days after stoppage of dosage, most of these derangements started to be alleviated.

Under the effect of carbon-disulfide intoxication on serum levels of zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium of albino rats, five groups of rats were injected with daily doses of carbon disulfide over a period of 50 days. The extent of regression of the developed biochemical derangement was also studied. A significant decrease was observed in the levels of serum zinc, iron, calcium, and magnesium, while a slight elevation in the level of serum potassium. No definite correlation could be found between the level of serum sodium in control and carbon-disulfide intoxicated rats. By s
