Roxithromycin is a novel oxime ether derivative of erythromycin. Previous studies have demonstrated similar in-vitro activity for roxithromycin and erythromycin. The in vitro activity of the new macrolide azithromycin and erythromycin against Haemophilus ducreyi, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides spp. and Mobiluncus spp. was compared.
