A 13-month-old Holstein bull was presented for right-sided exophthalmos. Ophthalmologic examination noted that the animal was visual in both eyes, but that the right pupil was persistently dilated and very sluggish to constrict when stimulated with a bright light and that normal ocular motility was absent. AIM: Sepsis is a life-threatening clinical syndrome comprising multiorgan dysfunctions caused by a disproportionate body immune response. There are several animal sepsis models which are based on cecum ligation, cecal puncture, and cecum slurry injection. The major limitation of all current sepsis models is the high variability owing to the variable degree of ligation, puncture and inconsistent microbial composition used for sepsis initiation. The primary objective of this work is to demonstrate the feasibility of a standardized method for sepsis development.

Nipah virus (NiV) is a highly pathogenic Paramyxovirus associated with outbreaks in Malaysia, Bangladesh, and India with high mortality rates. In this work, we investigated the association between the disruption of splenic lymphoid tissue and the severity of visceral leishmaniasis in dogs. Clinical and laboratory data from 206 dogs were reviewed. This case report describes a 13-year-old cob-cross gelding presented for evaluation of recent onset hindlimb ataxia. The gelding had undergone general anaesthesia and tenoscopy of the right hindlimb digital flexor tendon sheath at a nearby clinic three months earlier and had appeared normal at routine post-operative assessments until the sudden onset of neurological deficits. This case describes the findings in a Swiss Braunvieh cow with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (MPNST) in the nasopharynx. The major clinical signs were mixed dyspnoea with inspiratory and expiratory noises. Approach to control of Brucella ovis would vary in different countries and areas depending on farm and flock characteristics and economic factors. Eradication by a test-and-slaughter approach is the most desirable option in areas where it is logistically and financially feasible. A male Jack Russell terrier developed bilateral uveitis and glaucoma at 1 year of age. Since the ocular disease was painful and unresponsive to treatment, both globes were enucleated. Microscopical evaluation of one enucleated globe revealed panuveitis, with pigment dispersion and phagocytosis consistent with the ocular lesions of canine Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH)-like syndrome. Three years later the dog was represented with severe muscle disease and skin lesions. Due to rapid clinical deterioration the dog was humanely destroyed. Approximately 181 species are known in Brazil, with varied feeding habits that make them essential for ecological functions such as seed dispersal and plant regeneration. Despite the importance of their ecosystem services, the anatomical and histological aspects of the digestive system of these animals are still little explored.
