PROBLEM: Although pregnant women with gestational diabetes (GD), morbidly adherent placenta (MAP), and pregnancy hypertension (pHT) diseases lead to intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), little is known about their effect on mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) and innate lymphoid cells (ILC) in the umbilical cord. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the number of peripheral blood CD5(+) B cells and their ability of secreting IL-10 in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).
METHODS: Peripheral blood lymphocytes were isolated from 57 pre-treated, 40 post-treated ITP patients and 25 controls using Ficoll-Hypaque density centrifugation and then stained with PE-CD5/FITC-CD19 for flow cytometric analysis. BACKGROUND: Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells essential for bone resorption and remodeling. In healthy bone remodeling, osteoclast activity is tightly coupled with osteoblast activity, but this coupling is disrupted in a range of pathological conditions, such as Paget's disease of bone and delayed healing of fatigue fractures. BACKGROUND: Chemokine receptors and their corresponding ligands are key players of immunity by regulation of immune cell differentiation and migration. CXCR1 is a high-affinity receptor for CXCL8. Differential expression of CXCR1 is associated with a variety of human pathologies including cancer and inflammatory diseases. While various studies have highlighted the importance of CXCR1-mediated CXCL8-sensing for neutrophil trafficking and function, its role in B-cell responses remains unsolved.
